The Okanogan Valley had been on my list for a while, and I realized it could be a pretty easy route home after visiting Banff. But I really wanted to visit some wineries and hire a driver, but wasn't sure how to really do that while traveling with two kids. So I thought, "Why not just take them?"
Cheers not only accepted them, but really encouraged them to be there and learn. My children walked through the vineyards and looked at the different varietals with Lou while I made important tasting decisions. But they also learned about smells and ethers - and had so much FUN. In fact, my daughter told me afterward, "I'm so glad I got to spend the day with Lou (our tour guide)!"
We all had a lovely time and experience. It was the perfect tour.

“TRULY FAMILY-FRIENDLY”, and, “IT WAS THE PERFECT TOUR”
Erin, WOW! Your opening and closing declarations are phenomenal! Imagine other travelers reading your testimony about your “TRULY FAMILY-FRIENDLY… PERFECT (WINE) TOUR” They’ll love it! 👍
Thank you so much for giving your time to share your story and honour us with an excellent review! Delivering family-friendly wine tours with enthusiasm and especially engaging and encouraging children to be there and learn, clearly differentiates our business from all those who frown upon or discourage young adults from learning responsibly.
Your daughter’s testimony, "I'm so glad I got to spend the day with Lou (our tour guide)!" will undoubtedly encourage many parents, Erin! 👍
At Cheers! Okanagan Tours and Transportation we appreciate children – we have three of our own (adopted twins from Haiti and a biological son born in the Philippines – but all were born on April 15, 1992! :)
Imagine your friends and family’s heads turning in astonishment back home as your “underage” kids declare, “I had the best wine tour ever, and had so much FUN!” L.O.L!
It’s all about perspective.
If you subtract the romantic notions from winemaking, you’re left with “grape farmers” who want to sell their magical grape juice. And what child wouldn’t like a “field trip” to a grape farm?!
An important part of making the “field trip” into a once-in-a-lifetime type experience, is blending in the fact that their parent(s) have abandoned their careers – if only for a day – to fully participate in this magical “field trip”! What child wouldn’t desire to have one or both parents along on a magical “field trip”?!
“Fun”, “Informative” and “Memorable” are essential hallmarks of a successful family-friendly wine tour experience. Savvy children often enjoy wine tours even more than their parents. Like sommeliers and wine judges at wine competitions, THEY DON’T DRINK. Children are knowledge-sponges and they love having fun while making lifelong memories – just as much as adults!
All of our tours begin with an unpretentious discussion entitled “Wine 101”. Our guides (like Lou) authentically help everyone (at an 8-year-olds’ level) understand that “taste” is a synonym for “smell” and wine “tasting” is 99% about smelling. We only have 5 taste senses, but over 1 trillion smells!
I love it when the adult’s eyes glaze over as the guide gets to, “retro nasal olfaction”. Retro – what?! Did you know that when we eat or drink something it is the sense of smell that largely accounts for the flavours we “taste”? As we inhale and exhale while drinking or eating we continue to smell via the oral cavity located at the back of the throat. This is known as “retro nasal olfaction”.
One of the best winemakers in the world living in West Kelowna doesn’t drink wine. He’s allergic, yet often wins innumerable wine awards! He loves kids. Kids love him! One of his own is challenged by juvenile diabetes. But imagine - One of the BEST winemakers in the world doesn’t swallow!
It’s all about perspective. Consider the outcome you’re desiring for your children. My 3 children became entrepreneurs and philanthropists at 9, primary benefactors in building an orphanage in Uganda at 15, started acquiring real estate at 16, worked with disenfranchised youth in prisons, ghettos, and under bridges in their later teens, and have lived and worked in multiple developing countries, sometimes in orphanages similar to where two of them came from. But that’s just my kids, not yours. Taking YOUR children (future leaders, humanitarians, spouses, parents, etc.) on a wine tour while believing in their potential and destiny can be transformative, revolutionary, and certainly, a once-in-a-lifetime family experience to be remembered forever.
The cost of our tours is wide-ranging but the value is always priceless!
Our employee-partners like Lou go exceedingly above and beyond what anyone expects every day – as naturally as breathing. Fanatic discipline, empirical creativity, and productive paranoia fuel our desire to build an uncommon company culture that focuses on the care and success of our customers, employee-partners, vendors, and neighbors. Helping people thrive truly differentiates our business.
On behalf of, "I'm so glad I got to spend the day with Lou (our tour guide)!", and the entire team of employee-partners here at Cheers! Okanagan Tours and Transportation, thank you so much for honoring us with the privilege of your trust, commerce, and magnificent testimony.
Refer your friends so we can WOW them too, please.
Cheers, Allen.

Philip, thank you for giving your time to provide an excellent review of your Oliver and Osoyoos Wine Tour from Kelowna - 4 Wineries
A great experience, especially one that was, “ABSOLUTELY AMAZING- DOWNRIGHT ECSTATIC AT OUR EXPERIENCE!” is NO accident. Unquestionably, the single greatest influence on the atmosphere, pace, and tone of a tour of any kind is the guide. Great tour guides like Jim demonstrate passion and personality. Great guides interpret and present each tour as an extension of themselves – as naturally as breathing. Jim will appreciate your high praise!
THANK YOU for giving us the opportunity to earn the privilege of your trust, commerce, testimony, and a lifetime of referrals!!! We look forward to seeing you again. Remember to tell your friends and family about your experience. Cheers! Allen Burke, Owner

My best friend and our partners had an amazing day with Cheers! doing a wine tour in Oliver & Osoyoos. It really is one of the world's greatest wine regions and our tour guide Lou showed us a great time!
Cheers! curated an amazing tour for us which showed us a great variety of wineries both based on types of wine on offer as well as large scale and smaller family wineries. We would not have gotten such a great variety if we had tried to do this wine tour on our own.
The other big perk of touring with Cheers! is that we learned SO much from Lou. She is very knowledgeable about everything that has to do with wine, production, sales etc.
Lou also took great photos for us, brought us a yummy lunch and kept us engaged and comfortable. We had a great day with her. I would definitely recommend this tour.

“…AN AMAZING DAY!.. A GREAT TIME!... WE LEARNED SO MUCH!... HAD A GREAT DAY!...”
Sarah, thank you for giving your time to deliver such an informative and excellent review. Lou will appreciate your high praise. Your crowning declaration, “I would definitely recommend this tour.” will be very helpful to TripAdvisor readers. 👍
A GREAT EXPERIENCE IS NO ACCIDENT.
Your testimony reliably substantiates the fact that a wine tour without an authentic, passionate, knowledgeable guide is merely wine shopping.
Legendary tour operators like Cheers! Okanagan Tours deliver amazing tours by intelligently and skillfully selecting, organizing, and presenting a great variety of wineries which clearly differentiates us from the amateur who typically testify they would never have found such hidden gems on their own.

Delivering “a yummy lunch” of charcuterie (specially cured meats), artisanal cheeses, olives, fruit, and vegetables personally curated by our culinary team truly sets Cheers! Okanagan Tours apart. Moreover, the unique specialty picnic is typically served on a winery’s terrace and is available in regular, gluten-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, and vegan. Compared to a granola bar offered by the majority of tour companies, the charcuterie clearly differentiates our business.
In the words of Michelangelo, “Trifles make perfection, and perfection is no trifle.”
A great experience is always the result of high intention, intelligent direction, and skillful execution. It represents the wise choice of many alternatives.
On behalf of Lou, and the entire team here at Cheers!, thank you so much for the privilege of your trust, commerce, and fabulous testimony. May I count on you for referrals, please?
With appreciation, Cheers, Allen Burke, Owner

Charlie, thank you for giving your time to provide an excellent review of your Oliver and Osoyoos Wine Tour experience.
“EVERYTHING WENT PERFECTLY” is a tremendous accolade. Thank you!
Our knowledgeable professional guides supply an accurate picture of the variety of wine styles produced in each region on every tour while simultaneously favoring wineries and winemakers who deliver exemplary experiences our guests rave about. Building a winning itinerary is no accident. Your testimony, “LOU – OUR HOST – DID A SUPER JOB ON THE ITINERARY.” is quite insightful. Other travelers will find your review very helpful!
Along our 220 kilometre long Okanagan Valley and neighboring Similkameen Valley we grow more than 80 grape varietals in over 900 vineyards. Home to a mixture of approximately 300 quiet family-run boutique wineries to huge commercial operations, Cheers Okanagan Tours unpretentiously delivers an array of modest, classic, and premium top-tier wine tour experiences throughout the vast region from operational bases at Vernon, Kelowna, and Osoyoos.
On behalf of Lou, our administration team, and our crew of 27 employee-partners, THANK YOU for giving us the opportunity to earn the privilege of your trust, commerce, testimony, and a lifetime of referrals!!! A fabulous day, full of laughter, good friends and some excellent wine. Our driver/host Cal was very knowledgeable and made the day special. We had asked for a private tour (COVID responsible) focussing on the Golden Mile of the south Okanagan with lunch included. We had not specified any particular wineries so Cheers put together a package of large and small wineries, each with their own special ambiance. The charcuterie style lunch served on the patio of a winery by Cal was very tasty. (Side point - Because Cheers supplies the lunch, it can be served at whatever winery one happens to be at when one is hungry). The vehicle was new, spotlessly clean and a pleasant ride.
All in all a 5 star day. Below are photos from the wineries visited.

Adrian, thank you for giving your time to provide an excellent review of your private, COVID-19 responsible, top-tier wine tour in the South Okanagan Golden Mile sub-appellation.
Our magnificent tour guides, like Cal, differentiate Cheers Okanagan Tours from the mediocre. Unquestionably, the single greatest influence on the atmosphere, pace and tone of a tour of any kind is the guide. Cal will surely appreciate your high praise!
