On a cruise to NZ so we had just a day to spend in Wellington. While I've seen a couple of the Lord of the Rings movies, I'm wasn't going to spend my entire time in the city visiting the movie set. This tour was the best of of both a mix of the city and surrounding area and a small glimpse into the movie with a quick stop to the Weta Cave. Our guide was professional, friendly and had a wealth of knowledge about the area. The small group tour was the perfect size for us. I would definitely recommend this tour!

Thanks for the glowing review, sounds like we hit the spot! Such a shame our cruise season has come to a premature ends due to CIVID-19, now we must start plan for next season. Regards Ian

While we can do much about the weather it seems you got lucky on the day as Wellington is famous for its wind and rain. Pleased to hear that Ewen looked after you so well. Regards Ian

Great tour of Wellington's highlights. Our tour guide, Ewen Ritchie, could not do enough for us. He was very informative and always doing that little extra to make the tour an exceptionally memorable one. I highly recommend ….

This small group tour was so packed with content that I can’t believe that we fitted so much into our day without ever feeling rushed. The small bus that took us around had large format windows that allowed plenty of visibility for sightseeing or photographing. Our driver/guide was amazing, plenty of information without boring us and allowed the group to dictate the pace.
If you come to Wellington from a cruise ship or you have limited time I highly recommend this tour, we loved every minute of it.
Thanks Shore Excursions for such an unforgettable day - you get my vote as the best of all our excursions.

Thanks for the great review of our Wellington Highlights tour WLG-1, a very popular option, so we run 4 or 5 small groups in our fleet of new 15 and 16 seat minibuses, just about ideal to traverse the tight and twisty roads of Wellington, so we can show you things you would never see on the large tour coaches. Sorry about the weather but this is something even we can not do anything about, maybe if the sun had been shining and the wind and rain had stopped we may have got a 5 star review like usual. On this day Wellington did live up to its reputation as being the windiest capital city in the World. Regards Ian

This was a perfectly pleasant day, but not amazing or especially noteworthy. Wellington is a city. It's got lots of buildings and traffic. The "mountains" are more like big hills. We had a nice view from the cable car and from the top of "Mount" Victoria.
We saw the Parliament buildings. There are 4 of them, each very different from the other. I enjoyed the Botanical Gardens and also our time at the Te Papua museum, particularly the exhibit on Maori culture. I was amused to see the "Wellington" sign on a hill, much like the "Hollywood" sign in Los Angeles, except the "Wellington" sign appears to be blowing away. It's very windy there.

Thank you for your feedback and just a little disappointed you only gave us a 3 star grade out of 5. These reviews do have an impact on our rating on TripAdvisor and as you did not mention anything negative about our services, drivers and vehicles, then may we assume it was actually the city of Wellington that only scores a 3 start grade. On our short Highlights tour we try and show you all the best bits in a reak "snap shot" sort of way and any city with the variety of signts and things to do really deserves a longer visit. Maybe you can plan another visit in the future where you would have more time to see what the city can offer. Kind regards and a very Happy Christmas to you.

We had a great time with our guide Howard. He has a great sense of humor. He knows how to avoid crowds. While most guides were going to the botanical gardens and bottom of the cable car, he went to the top and met us at the bottom. He took us by homes of the rich and famous, including his. Best guide in NZ so far.
P.S. I'm not his mother.

Thanks for the amazing review of your tour and of course the guide you had on the day Howard, our small group tours [15 persons or less] let us scoot around the busy city of Wellington and miss all the bottlenecks where all the coach tours go, but now the secrets out of the bag they will all start copying us! You would have also driven past Sir Peter Jacksons house out on the Miramar Peninsula. Regards Ian

We were collected punctually from the ship terminal and shown so many highlights of this beautiful city (despite average weather). Tour included the opportunity to get out of the van and view historic buildings, the lookout, the tram ride down the hill, lunch and driving along the coastline of Cook Strait. Also visited the Weta Cave and souvenier shop. Back in plenty of time to board the cruise ship. Great customer service for making the booking and a very personable and informative guide made for an enjoyable experience.

There will be 7 of us traveling on on April 8, 2020. Our ship the Ms Noordam departs at 4pm. Tour is from 930-330. That is cutting it a bit short to have to run to reboard. Can we cut lunch a bit short so we get back at 3-315pm??
Will be At Wellington on 25/10/2019 via Royal Caribbean's Ovation of the Seas. Will you pick us up and drop us back to port on time? Thanks.

It is a 6 hour tour, so if your ship is not going to sail away until 6 pm, you should not have a problem.

Hi, I was wondering, when will your availability for this tour will be listed for 16th October 2019?
I have done a city tour of Wellington before and enjoyed it but I did not get to TePapa so this tour is perfect. And it will be fantastic for my husband who has never been to Wellington.

yes you can be dropped off at Te-Papa on our last cruise they dropped off people there while they took others back to ship, then returned in an hour to pick you up. Not sure about the University. A very good company to plan a tour through.
Hi can I asked please your contact number so I can book directly and I want to ask some question by the phone. I tried to ring the number that I saw in your website but I can't connect.
Cheers,

We’re travelling on the Ovation of the Seas and arrive in Wellington 17/12 from 12:00 to 7pm. Are there any tours that you’ll be doing that day that will include the cable car

When we went on the the Shore Tours we visited not only the Cable car, but they dropped us off at the top, we did a tour of the Museum that is part of it and then we rode it down to the bottom where they picked us up for the rest of the tour. Todd our driver did a great job. The cable car ride was spectacular, great views of harbour and the lights in the tunnels are beautiful. They pick you up at the dock and return you to the dock. We were on a 7 hour tour and we saw all of Wellington.
