Great outfit for all types of bike rentals. Wife took an e-bike (which she loved and now wants one for home) and I took a regular city bike with toddler seat (which my toddler just loved and napped in). Super accommodating staff. Recommend to anyone looking for a fun way to see old Beijing.

We took 3days package private tour and we met our fantastic tour guide Francis. He is very experience guide and show us all about Beijing. We enjoyed very much cycling around the city and it feels being part of Beijinger. Francis brought us all the best local restaurant (without any tourist/foreigner in the restaurant) and all the food were extremely delicious and authentic. Thank you very much Francis and Selena for the wonderful experience. Tips.. its good to cycle and digest after enjoying delicious food and feeling very full.... haha

We did a family (non-group) tour with a custom start/stop time due to travel constraints. Bike Beijing was incredibly responsive over email, providing tour information and pricing, and coordinating our tour very quickly. All we had to do was show up! When we did, they got us bikes, adjusted them as necessary, we picked out helmets, and we were on our way! Our guide, Frank, gave us a great historical overview of the neighborhoods and sites we rode past, and also kept the information real and interesting for our child. We later received some really nice family photos taken during the tour, a really wonderful souvenir.
Cycling is a fantastic way to get around the city, as it's flat, incredibly spread out, and there are designated bike lanes. (It's also a very liberating activity if you've been doing other more traditional touristy things that involved crowds and lines.) If we'd had more time, we would have both done a tour and rented bikes to get around.
I definitely want to thank reviewers here, because we decided to do this a bit last minute, I went off these reviews and a tip from LonelyPlanet to book with Bike Beijing.
Side note - we are foreigners who live elsewhere in China, and prices for worthwhile activities are often high, particularly if service is provided in English. I think for the bike rental, helmets, and the tour for just three people, at a time that we requested, the pricing was actually quite acceptable.

This is my second time renting from Bike Beijing. Once in May 2011 and this time in April 2015. Both times were unguided self-tours.
The shop assistants are very helpful with directions and recommendations. The bikes were in good working condition, but not tip-top shape (having lived in china, bikes in top shape are the first to be stolen even when it is locked!).
My only complaint was that they couldn't find a bike that was an exact fit for my 6foot2 height. The seat post was as high as it could go already. This was not such a big deal; I didn't mind too much.
We intended to rent the bikes for a few hours, but we were having so much fun riding through the city, we returned the bikes such as the shop was about to close (6.00pm).
Bike lanes in Beijing are well-marked and used. Often times, they are separated from the main road with a fence or planter. As long as you observe the safety rules, and when in doubt, "do as the beijing-ers do" - you'll be fine.
Helmets are available for rental, and are recommended but optional. You may be the only ones wearing bike helmets on the street.
We saw bikes with rear child seats and tandem bikes for rental as well.

Bike Beijing was a fantastic way to experience the city. I bought my 8 hour on-line before my trip. When I arrived at the shop at 9am my bike and guide were ready to go. We proceed to journey through the city visiting the Drum and Bell Tower, the Forbidden City, Hutongs, Shichahai Lake, Tiananmen Square, the Temple of Heaven, and more. My knowledgeable guide took pictures during the day, which the shop sent me over the Internet. Unlike a confined tour bus this Bike Tour keeps you moving through the streets of Beijing giving you an on the ground look at the city. It's a great way to learn your way around when you first arrive. The tour fee included not only the bike rental and guide, but also a full lunch and the entrance fees to all the major attractions. Bike Beijing really knows how to take care of their costumers. Highly recommended.

Hello,
I want to book for next July but it says you’re all booked out which I find hard to believe! So I tried for next week and that’s a problem as well. Have you gone out of business? Will you be open in July? Will you have bikes?
