Don’t bother to go there if you are not hotel and guest unless you are japanese. Such a shame that they don’t open to public anymore. The public onsen near the main village is close down. Not much option left.

Ski-in/ski-out western five star hotel in the heart of Hirafu village.

Rooms are modern and spacious. The bed is comfortable and soft. Mentioning this as Japan hotel beds generally run firm to very firm.

Onsen is functional. The outdoor onsen is enclosed so no views. Not luxurious by Japanese standards.

If you are looking for a Japanese experience then this hotel and probably Niseko is not for you. Most guests are from China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.

All staff are English speaking and mostly foreign. Some reviewers paint the staff as a bunch of ski bums just working there way through the season. We found this was not the case. All staff were professional and friendly.

Also there is daycare at the opposite Aya hotel. In room babysitting is also available.

There is gym in the Aya hotel that can be used for a fee.

Don't bother with this place .
Totally in-authentic
Very overpriced and very overrated
I am an Onsen lover and this is to be avoided

Was quite excited to visit the Vale onsen as I heard it is kakenagashi onsen, which means that once water enters the bath, it does not go through recirculation, as well as Aesop amenities!
Reached the place and found the reception easily. Paid for entrance Y1500 excluding rental of towels and went in. You can save a little by bringing your own towels. Was surprised at how small it was. Compact modern style. Indoor was slightly warmer than the outdoors. Outdoors had a nice space. You can hear the males from the outdoor onsen as there is a connecting space which has vents/slates to prevent people peeping through. The indoor wall seems a little mossy-ish. Not sure why but there's no direct contact with the onsen, maybe from the steam.
There's a indoor steam/sauna room. Quite nicely done up.
As for bathing area, think there were about 4 or 5 washing areas, but it wasn't using Aesop amenities (shampoo, conditioner, bath soap). They only have Aesop hand wash and hand balm at the sink area at the dressing area. Was quite surprised there weren't much amenities considering the price we paid. Dressing area is a little squeezy if there are other people. If there aren't it's not so bad. They have mini lockers to put your valuables for free too.
When you exit the onsen area, there's a pathway leading to the swimming pool. At the first door, you can shower before entering the heated pool. Didn't bring my bathing suit but wouldn't mind trying next time.
Along that pathway there's a water dispenser.

If you'd like a quiet onsen with lovely toiletries and a designer feel, this is the place. It's beautiful. The indoor pool is the hotter of the two, but both not nearly as hot as the Yukoro, which is another good onsen in Hirafu.

At 4pm on a Sunday, I had the place to myself, which was heaven. :) it's about 1,500 yen entry if you're not staying at the Vale and well worth it!

I don't go to a lot of onsens but I liked this one because you can tell they take care of it. A little expensive and a little small, but I think it's worth it for all the extras plus you know its clean

This was the first and only onsen we visited in Niseko. We absolutely loved it and came back 3 days in a row. As we were staying in a hostel like lodge we honestly preferred to pay the onsen rate just to shower each day after skiing. Only regret is we didn't come here sooner and every day.

My partner and I visited today, we had very different experiences. She had clear clean water in her baths. The water in the men's side was so filthy with slimy green floating gunk and clumps of pubes that I couldn't even see the bottom of the shallow pools. I saw other men getting in without showering first so that explains the dirty water, it really was horrible.

Hi changomutney, Thanks for your review and we are happy to hear that your partner enjoyed the female onsen at The Vale Niseko! I am sorry to hear that the men's side did not offer the same experience, and we would like to thank you for providing us with your valuable feedback. I am very sorry that you didn't get to experience the onsen at its best. Our onsen water is unfiltered direct from the hot spring, and contains a high content of minerals. The water can be cloudy, and sometimes contains mineral particles which are similar to clay. We drain and scrub the onsen on a daily basis, alternating between the outdoor and the indoor bath, so please be assured that hygiene and water purity are our highest priorities. As a result of your feedback we are reviewing our onsen procedures and signage to better reiterate the need to bathe thoroughly before entering the pools. I'd like to thank you once again for taking the time to share your experience in a way that will help us improve our services. If you would like to visit the onsen again please don't hesitate to get in touch. We'd love the opportunity to provide you with a more enjoyable onsen experience and hope to welcome you back in the near future. Warm Regards, Emma Guest Relations

There were a few of us who decided that we would have the afternoon off skiing and weren't really sure what to do. So glad we decided to visit The Vale Niseko onsen and rest out muscles in the mineral onsen they have.
It is small but comes with access to the heated pool and has a small sauna inside as well.
We were told that from between 1pm and 4pm is the best time to go because most people are still on the mountain then.
It's not too expensive since you are able to spend as much time in there as you can once you enter.

I've visited this onsen numerous times and it's always enjoyable and relaxing. It is on the smaller side but I've never had a problem with it feeling crowded, (I have always avoided Christmas and Chinese New Year though) water quality is amazing and it is fitted out very nicely.
