Beautiful place with a great view. We were 8 of us but only me and my dad went up the hill. You need to take about 300-400 stairs to get to the top.it is a moderate climb. Unfortunately as you are about to reach the top you see 10-15 shops being run with is not a great view plus all the garbage that is collecting there due to it is a let down. The temple itself is beautiful with a strong history.the way to the temple is pretty n untouched.
We had quite a few locals too climbing with us.
I would recommend the place if you are in the area.

Located near janjehli in district Mandi of HP is a very nice place. The temple is on a Flat cemented square platform type temple without any roof. The place is easily accessible only in the moths of April to july and then from Mid September to Mid November. During winters there is a lot of snow. Not advisable to visit this place during the rainy season or winter. There is a kutcha forest road leading to the temple but at last one has to climb nearly 550 steps on a hill to reach the temple. The place is a meadow where one reaches after crossing a dense devdhar forest. One day trip from Mandi or Sundernagar. Better to carry some eatables with you but please avoid liquor as it is a religious place. Keep the place clean.

I have been to this Sacred place twice. Once when I was a young boy of 8-9 years of age and then again after about 30 years. The surroundings looks changed but the Mandir Area has been upgraded. I still remember a small Sarai which would roughly accommodate a couple of families on a shared basis, that has disappeared. As a young boy I do not remember of any small shop in the entire area which now are in large nos. People travelling from Karsog side would travel the distance on foot which would take the whole day. The trek from Karsog through small villages and dense forest still gives me goosebumps. People would carry packed food and ration and find a place to burn woods and cook their food. It was all amazing.
Things have changed now, people now don't like to trek but would rather drive up. But the beauty of this Sacred place is still protected. In earlier times people would visit this place only to worship but now have become a tourist attraction.
A must place to visit if you get an opportunity to travel to this part of the country.

Shikari devi temple is located ni mandi district of Himachal( Bagsaid Valley in the Himalayas) Shikari Devi temple is about 18 Kms from Janjehli and connected by a jeep able Forest road. It is situated at an altitude of 3359 Mtr.,which is approachable from janjheli area .The place can be approached from Karsog which is just 21 Kms from Shikari Devi. On the Shikari peak, there is a roofless temple of Shikari Devi, the Goddess of hunters and this temple is said to be established (Sathapit) by Pandavas. It is said that sage Markanday also meditated at this place for number of years. It has been observed that despite the fact that temple has no roof, no snow is spotted in temple premises during winters when the entire region around this temple is covered upto several feet by snow. Visitors can trek to Chindi, Karsog, Janjehli through different trek routes from Shikari.

The Shikari Devi temple is devoted to Shikari Devi , the Goddess reverred in the form of stone idol. Hunters in the area once prayed to the goddess for success in their hunt and here perhaps, lies the origin of the name “Shikari Devi”. Interestingly, the temple which is said to have been in existence since the time of the Pandavas, has no roof . Various religious idols, extremely ancient, are worshipped there. These are carved out of black stone. Temple is situated at the top of the hill and surrounded by thick Oak and Coniferous forests . The altitude is more than 3200 meter.

Shikari Devi temple is must watch when you visit Janjehli-Karsog region. We had stayed at a homestay near Janjehli which is a beautiful remote village in mandi district.
From Janjehli, Shikari devi is about 15 kms by car. But after 6-7 kms, road almost non-existent. Road is really bad to drive and mostly you will be driving on stones and sand and a narrow road. If you come across a vehicle on the opposite direction, it will be a little cumbersome to maneuver. But we hardly found any vehicle in the morning time.
When we reached at the top, there was a parking area and few shops.
And from there we found stairs. It was around 600 in number :)
After all the trouble of climbing stairs, it was a stunning view. We could also see snow clad mountains that were at quiet a distance. Weather was a bit cold even during month of April.
All-in-all, if you are looking for a place that is largely unexplored and has less or non-existent crowd, this place should be on your list.
