I have travelled to lot of places with family n single. This is one of the "wow" places. Offroad drive in my car was the highlight.
"Saritha" - A wonderful guide who joined us made the trip even more classy. With deep knowledge about the forest and ecosystem showed us a whole lot of wild animals and their dwelling places. Also she shared us her experiences in the wild. I would suggest Saritha sister a 10🌟 for her service to our family.

We took trekking trail with parambikilum tiger reserve.. They have 3 different trekking trails. Elephant walk, bear path and pug mark. We opted bear path which was booked online.. The website says you have to pay for min.5 members if lack of guests as its a group trekking and its a 4 hour medium paced trail from 9-1pm.. We reached by 8.30 and waiting till 9.30 to get allocated a guide. We were the only people for bear path trekking and had to pay extra for the other 3 members. Its 300 per person..after insisting and continuous talks about delay, we were allowed to start our trekking at 9.40 am... We expected our guide to be more knowledgeable person, wearing professional gear with backpack and walking stick etc, but he came in very casual slippers and took us inside forest. There is no proper trail path or organized route. Inside the forest we saw fresh elephant foot mark, and suddenly our guide got panic, was not convinced of his own route and brought us out in less than 2 hours. By 11.30 we were out. When enquired about it, he was saying it takes only 2 hours, the website information of 4 hours includes for very slow trekkers😓😒. We really felt we were misguided because the reception office while allocating guide also was insiting yours is long trek for 4 hours. it should be that this guide just took the shortest route or he his not aware of trekking path. After went thru many professional trekking groups across India and world, it was an horrible experience. Though the walk inside forest was fresh, guide was not a professional trekker, looked more of a self trained local boy.
Both topslip and parambikulum to be avoided during weekends and public holidays. Their concept of safari drive is fill the bus with loads of people around 30-40 at a time, go around the forest and come back.

We stayed 2 nights at Parambikulam Tiger Reserve - 1 at honey comb and the other at tented niche. We liked HoneyComb better. The accomodation is lodge-like and toilets are very clean. Three meals and evening tea are inlcuded in the package. We were able to see elephants, bisons, deer, monkeys, wild boars, peacocks etc. in abundance. No luck with tigers or bears. But the experience was amazing. The dams and the rivers are enchanting The animal sightings feel wonderful. It worth the while.

One of the best government run tiger reserve. You can book online for the stay. Best is the Tented Niche where you will stay in Tents. The reason behind selecting Tented Niche is the cost comes with 3 meals, forest ride, bamboo boat ride, some tribal dance and early morning trek. So one full day from noon to next morning will be covered in single payment.

But you can explore other stay options too where you shall pay for food or other activities separately.

Rooms are not so clean (as it is govt run) but adjustable. Food is good. But the forest is so so dense and you can see animals so easily. No signal. Completely out of hectic robotic life. Worth visiting yearly once to rejuvenate ourselves.

4 of us were taken here by our driver as part of our 11 day tour. Its pay, pay, pay.
In ther reserve we had a tour on a bus with about 18 other poeple. The driver drove the rattly bus that fast it would frighten off the animals before you got to them. Luckily we did manage to see a leopard. We stopped about half way while some of the group went rafting. We were able to get basic snacks and coffee while we waited.
Be carefull of the monkeys, they will snatch stuff out of your hands.

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is in Palakad district of Kerala. However, to enter this forest area, one has to travel through Pollachi town in Tamil Nadu. While traveling from Pollachi, first you will cross Anamalai Tiger Reserve/ Anamalai wild life sanctuary. This Anamalai Tiger Reserve/ Anamalai wild life sanctuary has border near Top Slip. After that, Parambikulam Tiger Reserve area starts.

Parambikulam Tiger Reserve is one of very thick forest one would like to visit. Have visited this forest area several times. The reserve area has valuable timber trees including teak, rosewood, etc trees with lots of bamboo trees. Though it is mainly the Tiger reserve, many other animals such as Elephant, Panther, Deer, Wild Dog, Nilgiri Tahr, etc can be seen here. Lot of bird varieties can be found too.

Parambikulam, Thunackadavu and Peruvaripallam dams are situated in this Tiger reserve area.

Parambikkulam lies in the border of Tamilnadu (Anamalai Tiger Reserve) and Kerala. It hardly takes around 45 mins by road to reach Parambikkulam Tiger Reserve. There is a forest department restaurant serving primarily South Indian food. The trip inside the forest is also organized by the Kerala forest department in their mid sizes buses. The drivers and the guides are on a mission to complete the trips in minimum time possible and hence chance of enjoying the surroundings or the forest are minimal. Clicking pictures of stray Nilgiri langoor or some hornbill is very difficult as animals do not come in the vicinity because of the clatter of the buses and even if you can spot one, the buses move at a speed to over run the spot. Not a very good experience for die hard wildlife enthusiasts. By the way, the accommodation of Kerala forest department looked better than their Tamil counterparts at Anamalai Tiger reserve.

It is a TOPSLIP, Great place for Nature lovers. Made one day visit for Valparai. Though TamilNadu forest dept not supported Kerala Forest Department encouraged Tourist and helped us to make our tour enjoyable. TamilNadu Forest and Tourism Department must get Training from Kerala department. TamilNadu Government people are shameless people. Only money their target.
