One of the very good reservoir to see in this place. This is the lifeline for the many places to have requirements fulfilled.

Siruvani dam is the main drinking water source for Coimbatore but if you want to visit you have to reach via palakkad. Travel Palakkad to Mannarkad road for 30km and take right where you will reach Palakkayam. From Palakkayam travel for 10km you will reach check post. Pay 500 for vehicle 350 for guide and 30 for each person. Then travel for 5km,reach another check post and pickup guide. Siruvani dam can be reached by travelling another 5km. From there drive another 5km to reach keralamedu which is the border for kerala and tamilnadu where you can trek for 1km to get a splendid view of coimbatore.
1.Avoid rainy as well as summer season
2. Be careful roads are narrow with deep gorges on the other side
3.staying is not permitted
4.First check post is closed at 3.00pm and you have to climb down before 6pm
5. Carry water food and all your essential things because no shops are there

We were fortunate to have a driver, and Mr Thomas at Gingerhill Nest organised an informative and knowledgeable guide who pointed out monkeys, giant squirrels, bison in the area around the dam, which is an impressive engineering feat. We travelled beyond the dam to the Kerala / Tamil Nadu border for some fabulous views, mountains on one side, the flat plains way below.

A good place to visit. Need to take pass from forest office. Vehicle entry fee: 500/-. Adult entrance fee: 30/-. Guide fee: 350/-. Places to visit: Seruvani dam front & back view, keralamedu. From forest picket station keralamedu, we need to walk around 1 KM. This way is difficult for aged people. We can see many parts of tamilnadu, dam long view, purification station of tamilnadu.

Not deep forest for riders , but for those who are came for trucking , they can pass through the deep forest in their own risk, have guide but still the responsibility and risks are should taken ourselves. Have a dam in the Center of the forest. It's the border of Kerala and Tamilnadu. Can see wild animals . Can take food inside but not allowed to through plastic materials and waste in forests. If going at good climate , it'll be fine. Can take our own vehicle inside for ride through the forest , better go for SUV type, because it's forest have many big edges and ups and downs ! A good place to visit with friends and family

Siruvani dam offers beautiful views n teaming with wildlife. It is a major source of water for coimbatore city. u can find bisons and deers in the forest when u trek or ride through them. DONT ever forget to taste the water from the dam. You ll say that it is the sweetest water on earth !!

Siruvani is located about 46km from Palakkad town in Kerala. You need prior booking to enter into the forest. The ride inside the forest is in our own car and upon reaching the checkpost a guide also will accompany us. The ride through the dense forest which is a home for all sorts of wild animals will really rush adrenaline through our nerves. The view of dam surrounded by mountains covered with thick forest and waterfall is an awesome scene. With prior permission, we can stay overnight in 'Pattiar Bungalow' facing the dam. Another 4km, we will reach Kerala-Tamil Nadu border and we can have a look on Coimbatore city from the top of TN outpost.
The best time is during and immediately after monsson (June-Dec). The chance of seeing wild animals is purely under luck but we were fortunate enough to see a tiger, bison and a king cobra.

How to reach this place by bus from Palghat? We are coming from Guruvayoor by train and planning to get off the train at Palakkad Town.(Is it OK or any other stop nearer?) And from there, can we reach siruvani by bus? We don't have any idea about this place and also we have no vehicle with us. Do we have to take any permission to go to Siruvani Forest and dam?

Palakkad to mannarkkad bus available every 10minutes ..next bus mannrkkad to palakaym then you get taxi..and one more way Palakkad mannrkkad route Edakurssi bus stop then take a taxi

Could you let me know the details to get permission for entry to siruvani reservoir and stay in Pattiar bangaloaw. I am planning to travel in Jan. Can we use own private vehicle for this ?

You can get it by online and you can take your personal vehicle inside and make sure the vehicle is on full condition in all way ! And confirm the climate and conditions before booking ! Happy journey 👍
