Buccoo reef lagoon tours are many and varied so choose one to suit. There are large tourist boats with loud island music, d j, and rum cocktails. On the opposite side are quiet smaller cruises, some with glass bottoms offering snorkeling around the coral reef.
We took the glass bottom boat: Sugar Lips from Pigeon Point. We cruised out to the reef where we swam and saw a wide variety of sea life. Snorkels and goggles were provided. We then went to Nylon Pool which was noisy and overcrowded, then on to a beach where hand crafted jewelry, drinks, and barbecue food was on sale. Overall not worth the trip. With hindsight we should have just done a snorkel and coral reef tour.

The reef is far from the best I have seen. Its was difficult to see from the glass bottom boat we were on with all customers fighting for a better view. Taking photos was almost an impossibility and I was just glad we did not spend to long over the reef, with is mostly rock and very little coral.

Local beach accessible by car. We drove right under the shade and parked for free. It was a Sunday and was very popular with many local families and a few tourists and visitors. There are life guards and safety flags displayed. I didn't see any facilties for changing showering or eating so you need to take your own things ( you can eat in the village). Can be noisy (load music) but a welcoming site with beautiful white sands and blue sea. Seemed clean despite lack if facilities....perhaps we didn't see them.

One of the least developed reefs to be seen in Tobago. Kinda a tourist trap. The boat will likely take you to nylon pool & its uniquely located out in sea yet only waste deep. No man's land will likely be your last boat stop. There are dirty vendors here that don't clean up the sandy point. They should all be evicted unless they clean the beach spotless daily.

The views are amazing on sea and pigeon point itself is gorgeous but the experience on the glass bottom boat was a nightmare. AVOID the company called SUGAR LIPS. Rude, unattentive, running after people's money and nothing else. When you confront these guys on their wrong doings they will put the blame on you for being an unhappy customer.
1st problem: overcrowded boat. They offer glass bottom views but the boat is loaded with so many ppl that not everyone can actually see.
2nd problem they spend 10 to 15 minutes maximum at the reef/ nylon pool and longer time at the no Mans Land because this is where they cal make money by selling food
3rd problem they offer snorkling with no sknorkling equipment: only outdated masks no tuba no fins
And when you request they put it on covid. Tobago was not the only island touched by covid. We have travelled to many places since then and they sanitize their equipement to offer the best experience
4th for a 40$ experience in salty water in the sun not a single glass of water was offered you had to pay 5$ for a rumeur punch and 7$ for a beer.
Tourism is not purse to purse ppl, its ppl to ppl. I come from the Caribbean this is why am so offended by this way of treating customers. Our islands depend on Tourism to survive. If some tour companies continue to deliver poor service topped with rudeness I don't see things can work out for our islands.
Never again for us with the SUGAR LIPS BOAT PIGEON POINT TOBAGO.

The beach has a life guard and lots of kiosks to buy food and crafts from the locals. Perfect for kids because the waves are very large.

Good area to see underwater corals and fish! Our tour boat was excellent in going to the areas where we really saw clearly underwater.

So enjoyed this short getaway to Tobago. The tour of the Buccoo reef and swimming in the Nylon Pool, which is not really a pool but part of the sea, with some of the clearest, silkyest water to be seen. Curried Crab,Roti, Roasted Breadfruit, were just some of the delicious meals we sampled. Getting around was easy and we were charged no more than the locals, polite and friendly people. Buccoo was beautiful at night, and we took a walk and photos on the boardwalk, as we enjoyed ice cream cones while sitting on the benches along the shoreline.

We took a glass bottom boat tour out to see the reef and to be honest it was a waste of time. All you see is your own reflection and the fish are scared of the the boat,so they all swim off!

I'm visiting family in Trinidad the last weekend of October. I will have my 1 year old son with me. Would I be able to take him on the tour without a car seat? I do have a life jacket for him for the boat. I would like to know before we buy tickets and get excited if we won't be able to go on the tour. We are interested in the highlights tour and boat tour. Thank you!

You won't need a car seat on the Cool Runnings boat that my wife and I went on in December. If you want to snorkel then obviously someone will need to stay with your son. The trip that we were on also visited the Nylon Pool, which is nothing more than a shallow bank just past the reef, and families did take their young children off of the boat there for a short while.

Hi, I'm planning to visit Buccoo Reef and the Nylon Pool on a cruise stop. Any tips? I thought I'd take a taxi to Pigeon Point and find a tour there, but there is also a cruise excursion option for $65 (round trip from cruise port, glass bottom boat tour of reef and pool). I wonder what time tour operators start and if they will all be booked with the ship in port. Hoping to beat the crowd but that may not be an option if the tours don't start at 8am. Thanks

Hey Frida_Cu!
There are tour operators right outside of the park and there are tours that leave from Store Bay. All the tours that I saw seem to have two times. One usually around 9 or 10 am and a second tour around 2pm. The cost is 100TT/ person for the tour and 20TT/ person to get into Pigeon point. A taxi would be your best bet. The tour it's self it pretty short cause the reef and the nylon pool are right beside each other. Just depends how long the tour operator gives you at each place. Hope that helps!
