Wow, the beach/point is decorated with piles of garbage, wooden pallets, abandoned tires, what appears to be homeless camps and an interpretive sign about a fort that once existed. Downright gross, and frankly nothing like all the reviews we read.

En naturperle med krystal klart vand, hvide strand, flotte træformationer og en fantastisk udsigt over det Caribiske hav.

We did the Bio Bay Tour with Virgin and it was a highlight of the trip. The foot operated kayaks are easy to operate. The guides were helpful and enthusiastic. The actual bioluminescent organisms were amazing and put on quite a show. Highly recommended

We are staying right here so we went to the bay several time, we ate dinner, one night we kayaked. We learned it was originally a marsh and dredged for construction that didn't happen.

There were no people around (except in their boats) when we visited, but we were able to walk and drive around the area. We were here three years ago, and it was a bustling place. We parked our car and found some adirondack chairs to sit in while enjoying the views of the water and yonder. There was no signage about where Columbus landed; maybe that was swept away in the hurricane. If we had wanted to rent a kayak, no one was there. I'm not sure why not. Maybe they were hunkering down for fear of the coronavirus coming to this island during the beginning of the third week in March. Nonetheless, it was worth a stop.

On our last day at St. Croix, we decided to go to this park and preserve, to take a look at it and to see the spot where Columbus landed. There was no good directional signage and no marker of any kind to commemorate Columbus's landing. We met a couple from Canada who had gone one way and then another at the beach looking for something of consequence too. No luck. It appears that the hurricane from a few years ago washed away whatever was there. The St. Croix tourism office should no longer promote a visit to this site.

We have done several tours including the night bioluminescence tour with Virgin Kyack as well as rented kyacking and self toured. The service iand guides are top notch as are the Hobie kyacks. The pedal mirage Hobie is used on most of the tours so even the most novice kayakers can feel comfortable. The rates are quite reasonable starting at $40 for a 3-4 hour tandem self guided tour. This is always a highlight of our trips to St Croix.

Virgin Kayak did an outstanding job taking us on a night kayak trip into the salt river bay. Tremendous history lesson and experience for the second time we've done this tour!

The area is located at the west part of the island. It has a small marina. The natural atmosphere and the marina are welcoming you. After visiting the marina, you can also drive to the bay of the Columbus first landind. In terms of facilities such as cafés and bars, the marina area is the only place.

Are there historic homes to look at in St Croix?

Any idea when the park will be fully developed with services (ie, a visitor center that is staffed full time, trails, ect.)?
Rédigé le 5 février 2017
Although the website doesn't say it, they are open full time, but with volunteers. The visitor's center is a former "mansion" for a local doctor. Worth a visit. Also a nice beach at the Columbus landing site. Not much of the eceoligical preserve yet.

As a Timeshare staying there on an exchange, what will be the daily cost per person for the meal plan, taxes, gratuities for an arrival on April 18th, 2015?
Rédigé le 20 février 2015
I didn't have a meal plan. Our meals cost about the same as they do in the U.S.
