The park is in the lower part of Charlotte Amalie, it is not big but it is charming because it also has a period kiosk and beautiful gardens. I didn't read the plaque on the base of the monument but it is supposed to be some kind of liberty bell when the island became independent from Denmark at the end of the 19th century.

Emancipation Park is located a short stroll west of Fort Christian. The centerpiece of the park is the Freedom Statue. On the marble base of the statue, the words Freedom are etched. The park was created to celebrate the emancipation of slaves in the Dutch West Indies, on 3 July 1848. This sculpture shows the bust of a slave blowing a conch shell and holding a machete in his other hand. This is a recognized symbol of slavery and freedom.
The conch shell was used to call escaped slaves to gather while hiding. The machete, known as a tool for cutting sugar cane, was used by slaves to fight for their freedom. The sculpture was originally placed in the park in 1998, and in March 2021 it became the centerpiece of the park, when the bust of a Danish King was removed from the garden and placed inside the nearby fort. A similar Freedom statue is located in Franklin Power Sr Park, next to the Ferry dock in Cruz bay, St. John.
Other nearby attractions include Hotel 1829, the 99 steps and Fort Christian.

We went through the Emancipation Garden while on our St. Thomas food tour- our guide was very knowledgeable. There was an emancipation statue and a reproduction of the Liberty Bell (according to our guide, every state has one which I didn't know)

While this garden had a Liberty Bell replica, some statues, much in terms of tropical plants, and a gazebo, it also unfortunately possessed a plethora of homeless people.

This was a cool garden with seating, neat sculptures and lots of chickens to add to the ambience - as well as a pigeon or two.

One simple yet powerful word, freedom, describes the meaning of this little green park. The Emancipation Garden is in downtown Charlotte Amalie across from the Main Post Office, near 99 Steps and Fort Christian. The park was built in 1998 to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the abolition of slavery in the Danish West Indies which took place July 3, 1948. Look for the bronze bust of a freed slave blowing a conch shell. The Emancipation Garden is worthy of a visit because it is poignant reminder of the islands’ past.

In 1843, enslaved laborers were given every weekend to be free and save money that they could earn on weekends. Denmark ended slavery in all of its territories, including St. Thomas, in 1857. Although the Tripadvisor overview for this park says it was made to commemorate Lincoln's 1843 emancipation of slaves, it had nothing to do with Lincoln, who became the US President in 1861. Present in the park/garden are a lovely gazebo, a bust of Kong (King) Christian IX of Denmark and a copy of the liberty bell, which represents the arrival of British settlers of Jamestown Plantation in 1607, before their arrival in Virginia.

If you want to learn about the history of the island then this is the place to go. Make sure you grab some of the fresh tamarine off the tree for a snack.

Celebrating the abolition of slavery, Emancipation Garden is a very nice place to sit, relax and watch the world go by. Located at the end of the shopping district next to the Fort, it is ideally located at the end of the shopping district! We sat in the shade to relax and cool down. There are lot's of chickens scratching around and chasing each about, fun to watch. EP is also located right next to bus/taxi stop so handy for a ride back to the cruise terminal ($4 pp) or your hotel.
