このあたりがチベットの町
déc. 2019
Namdroling Monastery

Approx 130 kms from Mysore, peaceful environment.

Buddhist monks busy in their daily routine duties/prayers.

Maintain serenity of the place by following the rules strictly.

Sera Jey Hayagreeva temple, guest house & library
oct. 2019
Most of the tourists are visiting Golden temple alone as this temple is not very popular. Here , they follow the Gelukpa school. The temple is very quiet as there are not many tourists. We witnessed a very special prayer inside the temple which lasted for about two hours.

The head of the monastery is very scholarly and gentle. The library is worth visiting. You can stay in Sera Jey Guest House. They are charging just Rs.500/- for a non-AC double room.Hot water is available round the clock and the restaurant will serve food during the pre-fixed time schedule.

The monks are very kind to everybody and they are in the habit of keeping food and water outside every house for stray dogs and other animals.

We visited all the settlement camps. There are four camps.Shops at these camps are selling handicrafts, clothing and religious articles.

Don't miss the DOLMA rescued Dog Shelter near the 3rd camp. Mr.Kalsang, his sister and team are doing a great work for homeless, sick and dying dogs. The fish sanctuary is nearby. There you may feed friendly and eager fish.

The only negative feed back is about the reckless behaviour of the tourists. Most of the tourists are very loud and have least respect for the traditions of others. They let their children shout and play at even the holiest places. This is more evident in Golden temple.Sera Jey temples are less affected by this menace.

Salted tea and Tibetan food are available everywhere.Don't miss Momos in soup,Thukpa and butter tea.

The standard rate for autorikshaw from Kushal nagar to Sera jey temple is Rs.50/-,The same they will charge for a trip between Sera Jey and Golden temple.

One of the must visit place via Coorg.
oct. 2019
This place is located in Kushal nagar before reaching Madikeri 30Kms. Before reaching that I was confusing how do I search in google map like "Golden Temple/Buddhist temple", but both will take to same place. From main road to 2 k/2.5 kms inside this excellent place is located. Humble parking space available. We can spent 1 to 2 hours in the place. You can see everywhere dark red dress monks only apart from visitors. Very nice place. Don't miss this place if you are at first time in Coorg.

Really Something Special

If you’re Buddhist & in the area you will probably know about this wonderful monastery. If you’re a tourist you may only know about the Golden Temple which is also spectacular, but in a very different way.

Far from the maddening crowd
janv. 2018 • En solo
Sera Jey Monastery was not even on my itinerary and happened only because Namdroling/ Golden Temple was so crowded that I had to seek out a more peaceful surrounding. A Rs.10 auto ride from Namdroling, Sera Jey offers a completely new experience. It is almost like a city straight out of TIbet with its huge buildings, winding roads and monks in their maroon and yellow robes. When I went the monks were sitting for an exam so there was a single sound to be heard. You can spend as much time as you want in either the prayer halls or roaming about the empty grounds.
DO NOT MISS this amazingly well kept place just a Rs.10 ride away from the Golden Temple.
