Like everyone, we also visited it hoping to see the cleanest river, but unfortunately that was not the case. The water was dark green, but it’s not due to the poor maintainance of the locals. During monsoon, it becomes more muddy and unclear it seems. If you want to witness the cleanest river as per google images, visit during winter Nov - Dec. if you are going during monsoon, you can only enjoy the Mountain Views in the boat ride.

North East is an eye candy, the whole place is so beautiful, it's difficult to express in words. This was my first trip to the north east and it was a much overdue trip.
As we went during the monsoon Dawki river was not crystal clear but still the boat ride and the scenery was mesmerising.
It is definitely a must visit place and if you still haven't been to this side of India then my friend you are definitely missing on a very beautiful experience.

Unpopular vote here.. If its raining, avoid this. definitely not worth all the effort and driving to the remote corner. Once the water becomes muddy, the place has negative charm. Even if its crystal clear water, there are other lakes and rivers in Meghalaya that will yield same experience but with less crowds.
Too many people, too costly and touristy. It was so bad we didn't even bother to get down from the car. The place was worse than any other river in the country. Only saving grace was the trip to Bangladesh border close by.
Meghalaya tourism is growing so unchecked authorities needs to wake up and act. else we will have only such polluted, overcrowded places.

We had a nice catamaran ride , but the water was not that clear as expected. Because we went on May month.. the water is usually transparent during winter season..from November to February (according to locals). The local people are so lovely and cool. We could witness the Bangladesh border at Dawki river. Nature has its own beauty. Khasi hills and Jaintia hills has its own stories .

Very nice and clean river. Good for camping and boating. Bangladesh’s border can also be experienced from here. You ll find many Bangladesh vendors selling local food there

it was a peaceful & tranquil boat ride, especially as The boatmen don't rush.
We missed the transparency of the water but it had been raining & we saw the waterfalls pouring in hence visibility was low

When embarking on the route to Krangsuri Falls from Shillong, don't miss out on a must-do detour: continue along the road for a breathtaking vista of the Dawki River. With its crystal-clear waters, it's a sight to behold. However, avoid traveling during the rainy season, as the river transforms into a muddy spectacle. Opt for a paddle boat ride for a unique experience. Be mindful near the border with Bangladesh; it's not distinctly marked, save for a few stones. Take heed not to stray towards Bangladesh, as both sides' border guards will caution you. Facilities like washrooms are adequate, making it an excellent spot for families to visit and

Visited towards end of Mar’24. While getting to the river was okay. Roads have been repaired and we didn’t face any issues in reaching. However it had rained a day earlier and hence water of the river were muddy. We couldn’t see anything except brown water.

The river water is not clear after rain showers. And if it's not clear there is nothing much to see there really. We had gone last month and water was murky. Roads were not too good either.

Winter time (Nov-Feb) is the best time to visit. Though you can visit anytime (avoid rainy season).

Shnongpdeng has got one big suspension bridge.
You can not walk over it but can take pics from the river banks.
You got to track down a bit for that.

The river is Umngot, Dawki us a place along it. I think waters should be clear. Shnongoen is better. For best effect, plan to be in the river when the sun is overhead.

Can we cover krangsuri,dawki and mawylylong on same day,if not,which is better,dawki plus krangsuri or dawki plus mawylylong,coming in april 11,starting from shillong and night halt at cherrapunji

Hi, You can definitely cover Dawki & Mawlynnong in one day. We did not visit Krangsuri falls so cannot answer for that location.
