We have visited La Cite Francophone on many occasions and enjoy the French Canadian atmosphere and food. It has a year round outdoor patio which makes for an interesting winter dining experience.

I like La Cite venue for seeing plays- it's a small theatre so there are no bad seats.Cafe Bicyclette is very nice and the Sunday farmer's market is small but quaint. Watch for events there.

Being French Canadian and my eldest sister lives just around the corner from La Cite Francophone! Gift shops, book stores and their great Farmers Market every Sunday! A fun place to go see and shop!

In the heart of the French 'Quartier', La Cité is the home a little jewel, Café Bicyclette. Bistro-style restaurant, great-tasting coffee, short menu but boasting fresh and tasty ingredients. They offer Saint-Viateur bagels, hands-down the best bagels in North America (they won blind-tasting contests in...New York!)
A winning mix of French and French-Canadian cuisine. And the patio is fabulous, protected from the wind and open during winter, with log fires and warm blankets. Order at the counter during the day (and they will bring it to your table) and full service at night. Un petit bijou à Edmonton!

My son and his wife held their wedding at this venue in February of 2016. The facility and grounds are exceptional. The catering however and customer service they experienced throughout the entire planning up to and including their wedding day, was sub-par to say the least. Their coordinator - Gisele, was simply inefficient. Whenever they queried anything, she would simply say "don't worry about it". They had an appointment booked to confirm the menu with her, and when they arrived, they found out she left on holidays.
The menu - the one thing they spared no expense on, was so disappointing. The dishes came out one by one - firstly the salad, which most tables got, about 15 minutes later, the vegetables, then about 15 minutes later, the potatoes, another 15 - 20 minutes later and the chicken dish arrived, followed eventually by the beef. There was barely one piece of chicken per person - for the tables that got any chicken at all. The couple had ordered and paid for dietary restricted meals. They did not receive any of those - all they did (after asking for these meals) for the salad was take the cheese off. They had no potatoes and no meat.
All throughout the evening, the staff did not provide the service, food or even wine. Everyone made the best of it of course, because the wedding, decorations, facility were beautiful. The biggest disappointment was for the bride and groom who really wanted to treat their family and friends to an exquisite meal.
Since the event, the bride and groom have tried and failed to receive any compensation from La Cite for their lack of service and even the special meals that they paid for but never received.
I don't even have all the details, but this alone is enough for me to want to warn all couples against the catering services at this venue. If you could use this facility and use the catering from Culina you would have a remarkable event!!

La Cite is the heart of the French Quarter where the language is spoken everywhere you turn...restaurants, shops and on the street. The unique building houses, cafes, administration offices and a lovely theatre where Francophone plays and events take place constantly. The lay of the land makes it a pleasant place to have a coffee and relax outside on the patio...the best meeting place of the university district!

Today my wife and I went to the French Querter Farmer's Market, we were expecting something a little bigger but the experience was great, everyone was speaking english as expected but there were some people who spoke french when we asked, it is not really big but we bought a nice chocolate and french bread and it was delicious, the atmosphere was calm and there were a couple of musicians the whole time playing some tunes, the entrance is free and by buying the products you are supporting the local economy. totally recommended.
