Near the Science World Ferry stop, there is a great little business that rents kayaks for the False Creek Floaters. We watched them from the Science World area and enjoyed seeing them get out there and ply the waters. Must be a challenge to avoid the ferry boats though!

We did a tandem. I think that's the way to go. We went all around the bay. Great way to view the architecture-which is absolutely amazing. There is a section of houseboats that we went by that were fun to get an up close and personal view. The gal that checked us in was very nice. First class operation.

Creekside was very organized and knowledgeable. The staff were mostly younger summer staff and very polite and professional. I would highly recommend.

Nice lake & park just next to science world. Has a popular playground for kids. Not a huge park but great view and walk trail around the lake.

I recently bought a Groupon for Creekside Kayaks for $24 for 2 hours on a single kayak. I I made a reservation and the staff attended to us promptly upon arrival. They gave us an excellent pre-trip discussion on safety and rules of the waterway on False Creek before we headed out. I was impressed with the safety talk and safety features on the kayaks. This is more than I have received renting from other locations. The water in the basin of False Creek smelled horrible and the E-Coli levels were at 1200 (200 is safe for swimming)...so we definitely were careful of water splash. The view of the Vancouver along this waterway is the highlight. It is a pretty busy place with boats and water taxis. I didn't feel like we could stop and just enjoy the view. We ended up going into the marina by Granville Island to take a few photos. It was a great experience but not a place I would go to often as the waterway is too busy. If you are visiting from out-of-town this would be a great afternoon activity.

This is a great way to enjoy the very best of Vancouver. You get to enjoy the water, have wonderful views of the city, stop at a bach, see snow-capped mountains in the distance, have quiet solitude in the middle of the city, and people watch. Great prices. TAKE THE THREE HOURS AT LEAST. Three hours will get you out of False Creek. A longer trip will let you enjoy some time at the beach.

This was a first time kayaking experience for me and I was unsure of what to expect , Creekside kayaks office is located inside the community center by the water once you check in they have lockers, change rooms down the hall and resources such as maps of the area available. When it's time for you to kayak you head down to the water where they have the kayaks ready to go as well as life jackets, after a brief orientation (5mins) you're set and are on your way . False creek is a beautiful area to kayak and the water is fairly calm so good for beginners as well !! We saw a seal within 10minutes as well as some awesome scenery as we passed Granville island science world and animal island :) super relaxing but also a fun way to spend an afternoon . I'd recommend sunscreen , sunglasses , water , granola bars , waterproof camera or a phone in a bag as well as gloves with the fingers cut off if you have any :) if you have back problems at all bring a cushion for the seat as it starts to get pretty stiff after 2hours . We did 2 single kayaks and quite enjoyed the freedom of going as desired but there are also double kayaks available.

The office can get quite busy, especially in the summer with the dragon boat crowds, but despite this the staff remained friendly, professional, and efficient and my friend and I were signed up and off to the docks in under 10 minutes. At the docks be ready for a brief safety lesson and a few tips on how to hold the paddle, but that is about it.
Once you're suited and booted (i.e. you've put on one of their one-size-fits-all life jackets) you're pretty much off to the races! If you are new to kayaking or are just nervous in general, I would strongly recommend leaving your phone in one of the lockers at the main office (you need to bring your own lock, but the space itself is free) as we saw more than one person take an embarrassing tumble into the water.
Otherwise, get ready for a "lazy sunday" paddle around the creek! It took us about an hour and 45 minutes to get to Burrard bridge and back to the docks going at a VERY leisurely pace so don't worry about running over your 2 hour time limit - just enjoy the sunshine and the skyline!

My friends and I always make a point of kayaking the Creek at least once a summer. David and the staff are super helpful in arranging our myriad of requests with laughter and smiles all around. Their new piers and launch pads make it easy to get in and out of the water. The every changing and stunning Vancouver shoreline and skyline is a must see from this vantage point - always something interesting going on the water! We all have fun cruising the creek and then tying our kayaks together to leisurely float around and chat... a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours!

I'd definitely recommend this place for kayak rentals! A beautiful spot to start (right at Olympic village) and a beautiful area to check out downtown Vancouver's sights!
