Easy trail around the creek. Covered in 2 hours. Suitable for any type of crowd including kids and pets. Some parts if the trail could be muddy. Therewerefew spots of snow too.

This trail is probably the best built and best maintained in the Kananaskis area. Disastrous floods in 2013 damaged all the bridges and parts of the trail itself. All has been beautifully rebuilt, making for long, but trouble-free walking into the wilderness. On our recent visit to this trail, we started along this trail, but took an obvious intersecting trail a few kilometres down the path that went to the gorgeous Memorial Lakes. It's a beautiful trail, not as well travelled as Ribbon Creek, and follows North Ribbon Creek, featuring several nice waterfalls. The first lake of the three is okay, but not special, so keep going. The second lake is stunning, and a worthy destination. The third lake does require even more elevation gain, and had almost drained dry when we were there early September. But that's were the memorial monument is to the tragedy that happened here. If you're in the area, Ribbon Creek Trail is a fine way to spend the day. If you have more time, there are other places linked to this trail that are also gorgeous.

This hike was great, it has challenging parts such as climbing up the rocks with chains. I think it is about 10km or so to get to the lake. At the lake there is a campground. There were lots of other great people around the fire that also concurred the hike up there. Would really recommand this one (in summer, not winter).

The walk along Ribbon Creek to the huge waterfall is delightful, and chalk full of great vistas, and lovely areas on the creek to stop and take a breather. While some of the trail is gorgeous "dirt and pine needle" coated, some parts are pretty rocky, which might make the sneaker crowd a bit unhappy. We would recommend good shoes. For those not in a hurry, or those needing to entertain you ones, there are many smaller waterfalls and cascades as the creek cuts its way through some bedrock, and there are a few that have flat areas around them for picnicking. BE SURE kids are supervised at all times, as any fast water is hazardous to youngsters on their own. There are not really a lot of stunning waterfalls in this part of the Rockies, so this is quite unique for the area. For those with more gas in the tank, and some Tarzan in their souls, Ribbon Lake is only a few more kilometres up the trail. Up? Yes, up some chains that you need to haul yourself up to finally get to the lake. The full meal deal (Ribbon Creek and Ribbon Lake) is 24 km's, or about 15 miles return distance - not in everybody's comfort zone, and you do need excellent weather all day. And they are NOT kidding when the signs talk about technical conditions and cliff hazards. But the falls are much simpler and still quite rewarding.

This was a very pretty trail along the river. Did not make it to the Lake. It would be good for kids that can do the 9km round trip path that we took.

We did this trail when there was some snow but still worth the hike. Kananaskis Provincial Park has lots of great trails for the summer and winter.

This is a long hike but without any steep sections and frequent opportunities to observe the creek as it tumbles downwards carving out its path. Ribbon Falls highlight the end unless you wish to attempt a challenging section up a cliff using chains to reach Ribbon Lake. Flowers and birds are much in evidence and the views are awe inspiring. Allow at least 4 hours up and down.

Me and my girlfriends did this hike. None of us had much hiking experience and we enjoyed it a lot. We are all fairly fit and the trail was long but not very hard. I will point out that the trail is not marked very well at the start. However once your on the trail it is very straight forward. The hike was about 18-20 km round trip and took us roughly five hours. We did stop and have lunch at the falls which was really nice as there was a nice bench you could sit on.

A well-used Canadian Rockies hiking trail, we used it for backpacking. It's a gorgeous mountain creekside valley hike. Tons of fun for marveling at beautiful mountains, rock hopping up the creek, building dams, building inukshuks out of rocks and then knocking them over with your son. I'm not from Canada originally. I'm an immigrant. As far as my experiences tell me, all Canadian summer backpacking trips involve hail or snow, defs rain, cold. A little sun. Sometimes you meet nice people in the backpacking campgrounds. We all loved the day trip from the campground, where you go up the cliff side with the help of a chain. My Canadian husband wanted to keep going on and on past the lake & swamp in the cold and rain, but luckily it was snowed in.
