The day cruise on the 8th August was so enjoyable I went again on the 28th. This time I went on my own but still chatted to lots of people. The cruise commenced in Clevedon. I was on the seafront a little after 7 am and parked the car freely for the day. First stop was Penarth to pick up Welsh passengers. Thence to Ilfracombe in Devon. A sunny fine day and the municipal flowers there were glorious. After 45 minutes ashore I re-boarded for the onward cruise down past Woolacombe to Bideford Bay. Points of interest were described in the commentary. In the area of Westward Ho ! we turned round and made our way back to Ilfracombe. There I enjoyed a further hour ashore. A rally of Mini cars was culminating there. The return voyage to Clevedon via Penarth was great. I enjoyed a beer and crisps from the bar.

Was lucky enough today to board MV Balmoral for a trip from Ilfracombe, and i enjoyed it as soon as i saw it. A fantastic vintage vessel, well maintained and oozing nostalgia from every deck. Food on board was a delight and very well priced. The galley crew like everyone else on the boat were polite and could not of been more helpful which and along with a well pitched commentary made for a very enjoyable trip.Stunning coastal views on a stunning ship. I was lucky to have a calm trip, but do not suffer sea sickness myself. My advice to anyone unsure is to visit the web site and read, remember the sea can change especially in coastal waters in a matter of minutes, and look at the weather forecast before deciding to embark. We make the choice to board so take the calm with the choppy. Thank you all again :)

Sailed this afternoon from Largs to Rothesay and a cruise round the island of Bute. There was a good crowd on board to support the ship but she still felt spacious. The weather was marvellous for the most part but at the end we were shrouded in thick fog. Full marks to Captain Howie and the crew for getting us safely to Largs. Dining options were great (especially the cabbage and tomato soup) and the catering staff were very helpful. In fact the atmosphere on board, generally, was great. A fantastic motor vessel and let’s hope she is sailing next year.

Booked a trip from Liverpool, they decided to set sail, even though the crew were not happy due to the weather. The crew were aware that they wouldn't be able to stop at Llandudno but carried on regardless. Over 75% of the guests were ill due to the weather conditions and the Captain setting out to the sea rather than keeping closer to the coast which would have reduced the swell. As they set sail this meant that they didn't have to refund costs after they cancelled the trip. The company have sent out complimentary tickets which you can be refused when you turn up, but who would want to get on a boat again after such a disastrous trip. The attitude of the company is 'we've had your money so won't speak to you anymore'.

I have been traveling on this great ship for many years and this year has been no exception. There have been many sailings sadly cancelled but this has been due to poor weather conditions and other problems out of the company or the trusts control. The sailings that I have been on have all been vary good in their own different ways from interesting cruises up the rivers Severn and Wye, to glorious coastal sailings to Ilfracombe and Porthcawl. The crew are always vary friendly and welcoming and the ship is looking great. I would urge anyone who has a love for the sea, an interest in vintage ships or just enjoys a day out with a difference to give the Balmoral a go.

A trip on Balmoral is always exciting - she is a wonderful little cruise vessel with wonderul crew. - see earlier reviews - always friendly and always informative. This journey was from Bristol down the Avon Gorge - dramatic - so exciting and out into the Bristol Channel passing under the Motor way bridges and up the river Wye passing under the same there. Then off to Clevedon with its wonderful delicate pier. All in all a great day - sunny full of fun and very decent food.

I have been on the Balmoral many times and it has always been a great experience. This trip on Saturday to Llandudno, Puffin Island and Red Wharf Bay did not disappoint.
A very late Father's Day treat for my Dad, who has always wanted to sail to Llandudno from Liverpool. We had a fantastic day. Leaving a rainy Liverpool we sailed into the sun. Saw a dolphin and a seal, plus numerous seabirds. The view of the Great Orme and Snowdonian mountains from the sea was breathtaking.
The commentary was informative and the crew very professional and friendly, especially the Chief Officer. The crewman in the cafe was extremely helpful when I was juggling my cups of tea. The food is great, especially considering the size of the kitchen. The chips are highly recommended.
Let's not forget the volunteers who work so hard in so many ways to keep the Balmoral afloat.
Thank you to everyone involved for a very special, unforgettable day.
