I have been coming to the butterfly house since I was a young child myself, and to see if develop over the years and for my little girl to now enjoy it was much as I did back then is wonderful!
She especially loves the new butterfly house and seeing the farm animals.
Downside think it’s bit pricey for a 1 off visit, but have an annual pass as not far away.
There is a nice play area for the kids and woodland area to explore.
Lottie’s cafe has a lovely outside area.

Lovely place and lots to do with the kids, I’d have rated this trip 5* but unfortunately one of your staff members which I can only identify as moaning mertal let you down. I don’t think shouting over a microphone at my family for paying the lonely raven a bit of attention was necessary. It’s a double barred cage so I doubt my fingers would have suffered much damage. Also the walk through the lemurs was just as uncomfortable with moaning mertal and her megaphone. You can’t touch them but advised to knock them off your shoulder? Maybe don’t allow customers to walk into the enclosure if you’re going to get the hump about it. Lastly those wings are ridiculous and add to the moaning mertal name. What a jobsworth. Pack it in.

I have mixed feelings after our visit today. On the positive side, all the animals' enclosures were clean and there were some fabulous butterfles in the butterfly house. However, there also appears to be some very bored, lonely and stressed animals; I didn't see any enrichment in any of the enclosures. The macaws (and other birds) have nothing to do except sit on a perch whilst being subjected to children continually ringing loud bells next to their aviary. The armadillos were pacing frantically around their very sparse enclosure and there is a lone caique in a cage outside the cafe. There doesn't seem to be any thought being given to the mental wellbeing of these animals. I would like to think that what I saw today was not the norm but sadly, I suspect that it probably is....

Thank you for taking time to leave us a review. We apologise if you were left disappointed in any way. We take all comments on board and pass these to the relevant teams. As a centre we have 4 inspections a year with IZVG Independent Zoo Veterinary Group, they are happy with all the animals and have not noted any distressed animals or birds here at the park. Please be reassured that if there is an animal or bird alone in an enclosure, there will be a valid reason for this. It is usually because they may not enjoy being paired up, as we have discovered from previous experience, and as with Billy our Caique, he loves human interaction rather than being with other birds. We have an active daily enrichment programme and appreciate this is not always visual to visitors, an example of this could be feathers in with the tamarins, weeds in with the chickens or even a brush head in with the goats, as enrichment doesn’t necessarily mean food. You can also see how our keepers get actively involved with enrichment activities on our social media pages. We are also supported by the public via our Amazon Wishlist where our keepers have created a list of products that would really help them and our animals. All of these products are used towards animal enrichment, animal care, food preparation, health and safety, enclosure maintenance and much more. Our in-house animal training programme takes place behind the scenes but our visitors are also able to watch how our animals develop and take part in this during the daily animal training show in the Arena which often involves our armadillos and free-flying macaws as well as other free-flying birds. Our armadillos Bertha and Ernie are exploring a new and growing enclosure and their pacing will mean they know it is feeding time 😊. Best wishes 🦋

Fabulous day out with my 5 year old friend. She loves it here. You can feed the animals. Truly interact with alot if them, even the butterflies come and sit on you.. not miles to walk like other nearby wildlife places. Nice cafe and kids play area.. nothing to not like and enjoy

Yesterday I visited with my son & 4 year old grandson. We were all looking forward to the visit. We arrived after booking on line and my grandson was given an Easter activity sheet, he had to collect 4 stamps to get a small prize. He took to this with great enthusiasm.
He is a big animal lover, so was disappointed that we couldn’t purchase any animal food, it had. all been sold. but he agreed to watch others feed the animals. We saw the otters being given some fish, then walked on to find a gate in front of us just being closed for a tractor ride. We went back to spend more time watching the otters.
After another attempt to pass through the gate we found that it was still locked, There was no information to say what was happening. So we went to look for an alternative route through the park.
My grandson was pleased, that after getting 3 of the stamps he only needed one more to get a prize. However the fourth one was in the nature reserve which could only be accessed via a gate. Another locked gate. There was no other access. There were other frustrated children. We waited fifteen minutes as the kids really wanted to get the stamp and go into the nature reserve. We saw the tractor going past twice. We stood waiting again, an employee arrived as the tractor was stuck at another gate, it looked like a technical problem. We tried to find out from this person if he would open the gate to be told he couldn’t while the tractor was running. He told us it would be another fifteen minutes, It was the last part of the park , we waited about 40 minutes with a frustrated child before getting access.
I find it totally unacceptable to have twice been denied access to where we wanted to go. We had spent more than an hour of our time being trapped because of a tractor ride in two places. I would suggest common sense & decency should prevail. We are paying customers. Either stop the tractor rides or man the gates so people can pass through. It’s not rocket science.. it is wholly unacceptable practice to think it’s ok to trap people & cause chaos. They don’t even have any information displayed. You just have to guess how long it will be before the gates are opened.
What was otherwise a pleasant experience, was overshadowed by a lack of respect to paying visitors. It has put us off visiting again.

Our tractor-trailer ride runs once a day during the week and twice a day at weekends and during the holidays. We place signage along the route informing visitors of any interruption to the pathway routes and our staff are at hand to advise, but we appreciate your concerns during your visit. Please get in touch with us at marketing@butterflyhouse.co.uk and we would be happy to speak with you about your experience. Thank you. Best wishes 🦋

Amazing day out for all the family. A couple of cafes on site and allergy friendly food available. Lots of well cared for animals. The Easter bunny was there for Easter weekend to see the kids and did an Easter egg hunt and colouring with my family. Toilets on site and lots of hand sanitizers around. Parking was also good for prams and wheel chair accessible.

Enjoyable visit on Good Friday. Staff were friendly. Animals were great and plenty of things to do. I thought the park was well priced for two adults and a baby at £36.

The only negative; 2 x coke, 2x chips and a kids lunch box..£18. A Bakewell tart; £3.60…

Went here for my son’s 2nd birthday. We have been before and usually enjoyed it. We had been in center parcs for the week and decided to leave early to come here and celebrate my son’s birthday as he loves the dinosaur trail. I wish we didn’t. Everything was closed due to school trips, there was no access to any indoor area to sit or play games, etc. and half the animals seemed to have been removed.
the cafe was shut and the only other cafe is upon entrance to the butterfly house where the minimum card spend is £15 and there are no vegetation options for food other than breakfast which they stop serving at a certain time.
Once it started raining we just had to leave as we couldn’t even sit out of the rain and wait it out.
Waste of a day and felt my sons birthday was ruined, I appreciate it was a weekday but you still have to pay the same price as any other day so it shouldn’t be any different. Waste of time and money this time round

Thank you for taking time to leave us a review. We apologise if you were left disappointed in any way. We take all comments on board and pass these to the relevant teams. Our Butterfly Cafe may sometimes close on quieter days with visitors directed to Lottie's Coffee Lounge where the minimum card spend is £5. Lottie's offers a range of vegetarian options throughout the day including paninis and pizza, we appreciate at later times of day some options may have sold out but please always ask our friendly Lottie's team who are more than happy to help customers with any requests for dietary requirements and vegetarian options. We do operate a Rainy Day return pass (issued at the park on days where we feel inclement weather may have affected your visit) if you would like to contact us at marketing@butterflyhouse.co.uk with the date of your visit / booking reference we'd be happy to look into this for you. Best wishes 🦋
