Stoneacre looks like it lacks investment in the visitor experience. The ticket desk welcome is friendly enough but there isn't even a self-service drinks machine. The place looks old and there is some blurb about the ceiling in the great hall, but we left wondering what is unique about the place, did the owner have an interesting history, perhaps? Why is National Trust preserving this place among the competition of others - there must be a reason. It takes a bit of an effort to visit here because it is out of the way and only opens on a few days. The guides might have rewarded us with an offer to explain about the place but instead stood around chatting among themselves drinking mugs of tea - while our tongues were hanging out! The best bit was being allowed to come away with a few heritage apples from the enormous crop. The guides didn't know about those either and that could be quite interesting and perhaps even important in preserving the varieties (which on the whole I can tell you were delicious!). Come on NT, make more of what you've got!

This is quite a small NT property accessed via a narrow lane and will always be limited in terms of facilities as a result.
We had an enjoyable visit because of the enthusiasm and knowledge of all the room guides

Have recently been to Stoneacre, even though I don’t live that far away I had never been before. Lovely place and flowers were beautiful with such a mixture of colour. Amazing scenery. Only downfall was the hill you had to walk to it. Would recommend a visit

A lovely quaint old house which is beautifully kept. It doesn't take long to look around. The volunteers are there should there be any questions. If you like old homes and architecture then worth checking out. There isn't a cafe here so you don't need long to look around.

First time we'd been back in a year, shame it's only open for weekends through summer as it's our closest national trust location. It's a beautiful yeoman's house with an interesting life and history. The guides are friendly and very knowledgeable and walked us through the Great hall and rooms givIng us all the very interesting history of the architecture and Valance who saved Stone Acre around 100 years ago before gifting it to the National Trust. Take a picnic and sit at the benches out the back enjoying the peace and quite of the place, feel your stress float away with the bird song and sheep bleating in the surrounding fields. We spend 2.5 hours here and it would be perfect as a wedding venue or the flat as a NT holiday cottage.,......would give them the income to keep such an important building going. Thank you to the guides for the enthusiasm and love you have for this beautiful place, made our last day of jubilee weekend special

This is off the beaten track, but worth a visit.
A beautifully maintained house and gardens. We were surprised to learn that the house had tenants until 2019, and lucky to have visited on the last weekend that National Trust will open the property this year.
The house is full of original furniture and the guides are very knowledgable about the history of the house and it's previous owners.

Absolutely lovely hidden gem. Not a huge place and no tea room any longer but great for an afternoon.

We stumbled upon this little hidden gem on our short staycation. The staff were knowledgeable, even let my little dog come into the house (carried in arms). Property well kept and beautiful. Guidebook is informative. The gardens were also beautifully kept. Worth a visit

I visited during the pandemic, so not all rooms were open and there is not a cafe on site. I loved the house and wish more rooms were open and wish there was a cafe. I thought it was a lovely property, and the staff had a lot of knowledge about it. I returned after it had been shut for 3 years and was only just reopened to the public that day. Would also like the gardens to be cared for more here as they needed a bit of TLC
