This museum has two locations in Helsinki: Cable Factory and K1 Kämp Galleria. We visited both on the same day. They are quite compact museums but worth the visit.
In the Cable Factory museum, we saw an unusual Maija Tammi's Empathy Machine exhibition about Hulda & Lilli. Hulda is a lizard and Lilli is a grasshopper. Both lives are shown along different passages which end at a movie room where you saw both of them dying. Hulda eats Lilly and dies of overeating.
In the underground permanent exhibition, you get more knowledge of photography with many interesting details.

Great photography, like great art can be found in any major city if you look for it. One such place is the Finnish Museum of Photography in Helsinki’s superbly eclectic collection of galleries, museums, artist workspaces and one terrific restaurant — the Cable Factory.
We began our Cable Factory experience with the Photography Museum and greatly enjoyed three extremely different, but equally fascinating main exhibits. “Lottaland”, by Lotta Sulin, transported me into a world of photography as “performance art”, much as Cindy Sherman does. Sakari Piippo’s “Some Observations on the Political System of Finland” sounds like it could be as dry as dry could be, however its documentary photos accompanied by wryly symbolic pictures and an interactive voting experience were educational and fun. Caj Bremer’s gracefully composed and starkly illuminating “Everyday Life in Finland” focuses a deeply humanistic Walker Evans-like eye on Finland’s rural and seaside inhabitants and the effect of their migration to cities on the population and the environment. These magnificent black and white images truly bring art and commentary together into complete statements which open a dialogue with you as the viewer.
A little off the beaten path, but certainly walkable from the city center or by transit or cab. The ten Euro admission is a little steep (five Euro for seniors and students), but it is free with the Helsinki Card).
Definitely worth a visit as part of your Cable Factory tour.

It is a decent photography museum with changing exhibitions. The decision to visit depends on the current exhibitions, which are rotating.

Really enjoyed this museum. The exhibition was superb. I was just disappointed that they didn’t have postcards or books to accompany it

This is included on the Helsinki card. The description in there was misleading unless we missed something, there is nothing there apart from photographs, nothing on the history of photography. This is definitely not worth paying 10 euros to visit. There seemed to be three different contemporary photographic collections on display and there were some very large photographs displayed there.
Open to 6pm, even on a Sunday. You can reach the museum by catching bus number 21 to the Cable Factory.
Allow around 30 minutes for a visit.

Nothing spectacular, a decent photography museum with changing exhibitions. In the same building there’s also a theater museum as well as a hotel & restaurant museum.
If it is worth to visit depends on the current exhibitions.

Interestingly located in an old industrial area which is now hosting many galleries.
Try them out. Maybe interesting as much as the museum itself. Hosting rotating exhibits.

This museum presents exhibitions of Finnish and international photography.
The most interesting for us was the exhibition 'Elsa & Tyyne 1918 – war photographers by chance'. Many of the photos were from Helsinki, 100 years ago.
