So very beautiful, staff so welcoming and lovely. Kudos to everyone who keeps the park up and running! Had so much fun, can’t wait to take my son back when he is walking & running!

Winter in Tasmania, frosty morning with ice still on roads and paddocks at 11am, didn’t get much above 6c in the valley while we were there.
Pop, and three grandkids having a day together. Surprised them with a trip to Wings.
Met by friendly, helpful staff, then for the park. Exhibits were among the best I’ve seen in Tasmania, albeit animals curled up under the heaters ( we weren’t!) most were visible including a couple of devils squabbling and a macaw saying “hello”. White wallabies and kangaroos liked being hand fed.
Then to the cafe to warm up, hot chips and cheese toasty soon disappeared ( grandkids are vegetarian) . Coffee was nice.
Farm walk followed, impressive bison and longhorn, and the usual agro emus.
This is one of my longest reviews because I was so impressed.
Thanks Wings

Absolutely loved it!! We had lunch at the cafe and the food was fabulous, staff were very friendly and helpful; even when they had me, a screaming tourist run through with a wasp chasing her! The animals were amazing and well cared for. The interactions we had with them were just the best and will be remembered forever, it's a credit to the park how friendly they are. It's a lot bigger than I thought and to have the camping and accommodation on site is fantastic. I give Wings Wildlife Park 5 stars and I'm glad we took the opportunity to visit. Thank you.

Was on a cruise ship and booked the tour that included the bus ride. The guide on the bus did not provide much commentary on the drive.
The park itself is rather small but contains a lot of wild life. The feeding of the Tasmanian devils was cool to see and it was fun to feed the Kangaroos.
The bus driver told us to be back at the bus at a 15 minutes past the hour but did not show up to open the bus for 20 minutes which was extremely rude. Then when the bus was finally open they waited another 20 minutes for some missing passengers. The place is small enough that this could have been handled a lot better.

I'd been to the Park many times before and always enjoyed it but I'd never done an animal encounter before so I decided to do the Meerkat Encounter. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had. I had hoped they might come close enough for me to pat - I wasn't expecting them to jump into my lap! I hand fed them mealworms and got to pat them - it was such a wonderful humbling experience (nearly had me in tears). The keeper, Michaela, was fantastic. So friendly and so knowledgeable - answering my questions and also giving me an insight into the amazing little creatures that meerkats are. I've always loved meerkats but after that experience I'm absolutely besotted with them. Highly recommend it to young and old!

An excellent camping spot! But I learned that they are now charging per person for all persons 3 years old and older. This makes it expensive, @$10 per person, for families with two or more children, unpowered sites.
We also had to pay a 1.5% fee on a debit card. Overall, we enjoyed our experience, but didn't visit the zoo.

We had the most wonderful time here, from the scenic drive to the lovely staff and of course the adorable animals! We did the Wombat encounter and it was so amazing, the staff member was so kind and knowledgeable and the wombat we got to hang out with was so well cared for and loved cuddles and zoomies with us. We enjoyed a nice stroll around the premises with plenty to look at and so much to be interactive with, we enjoyed feeding the kangaroos and donkeys and giving them lots of pats too. We found it to be a really relaxing place, not super busy so plenty of time to see everything at your own pace and get lots of one on one time with the different animals.

Perfect day! The staff were knowledgeable and helpful! I did the koala encounter. We fed kangaroos. The little Tasmania devils were entertaining. Great for any age.

This place is awesome. Really loved it. Sure it is quite a way from everything and looks a bit of a ramshackle, however the animals here are well loved and looked after (we spoke to several of the staff and watched them caring for the animals), many have great enclosures to roam freely and there is focus on rehabilitation and conservation. It is divided into two halves - farm and wildlife zoo. We were there for 2-3 hours but could easily spend another hour or two (but we had to go). We didn't pay for any of the close encounters however you can feed the kangaroos and if you're around at feeding time the rangers there may even let you pet some of the animals - we got to shake finger/beak with Eddie the albino magpie. Fantastic place and a must see when visiting Tasmania. Well done!!!

Great little wildlife park where you can really get to see a range of native and non-native animals up close and personal. We all had a great time checking out the different animals, with the many different birds, marmosets and capuchin monkeys a highlight. Friendly staff and informative keeper talks also worth a listen. Definitely worth a visit!

Hi. Do you offer a shuttle bus service to the cruise ship terminal or nearby to Wings Wildlife Park
Rédigé le 21 novembre 2022
Hi! I’m visiting next month and reading the reviews. I’m really big into animal rights. Do you guys think the animals were happy? I saw some negative reviews about the one koala- does he have a friend now? Is he happy? What is the overall goal of the sanctuary- do they ever rehabilitate to release them back into the wild? Are the animals overfed from tourists? I appreciate your insights!

It’s a family run park & they do an amazing job of caring for injured or orphaned animals which wouldn’t survive in the wild. It’s a charity so they depend on visitors to boost funds.

How much time would you recommend allowing to see the entire park? What is the acreage? Would you say 1 hour is sufficient?
Rédigé le 12 mai 2019
I believe 1 hour is too short a time to see the park and all it has to offer. I would expect that at least 2 hours is a more reasonable length of time to spend at the park.

Can a person with limited mobility enjoy Wings? Use 2 canes for short distances, bring a fold up wheelchair for longer distances, can manage a few steps. Thank you!

Hi Margaret
I think you spoke with me via phone/email. If not please let us know. Plenty of access available for a wheelchair (accept up where the wedge tailed eagles are - there’s on incline)

Can I get there from the cruise ship by way of public transit or shuttle without a cruise excursion that doesn't allow enough time.

Hello,
You can negotiate a fare with a taxi company in Burnie or travel to the makers workshop in Burnie and there look for Crawn Motors coach company, they offer transportation too.
I hope this has helped.
Regards
Gena
