Favorite: Cathedral Cove is very beautiful; It was a challenge going to the Cove, the walk seems, long and strenuous because we don't know when we will get there, but on the way back, though same terrain, it was much easier, because we already know the place.
Hot Water Beach was an amazing experience. Good camaraderie with fellow beach goers, helping each other dig and find where the hot water spring is.
Tip:
Would have preferred to stay longer at Cathedral Cove to compensate for the 45min walk to the Cove and 45min back to carpark. Its a great place for a picnic, relaxation and swim.
Would have preferred to come to the Hot Water Beach just as the tide is going low, so more time can be allotted to Cathedral Cove.
Thank you for our driver Smiernief (Polish, sorry if wrong spelling). We had great conversations in the car and didn't realise how long the trip was. He is a very careful and efficient driver.

Milt was our driver and very polite and good. It was a private tour with our on car and driver. Went to cove and hot water beach. Had a great lunch in between

Roger was our driver and he drove us from Auckland to Cathedral Cove and then to the hot water beach near Tairua. Driving time was several hours. He was easy to visit with and provided us with lots of information. He also gave us some excellent suggestions as to how we could plan our trip more efficiently should we decide to visit again. I would highly recommend Roger to anyone.

We were very excited to see the Cathedral Cove and use the Hot Water Beach Pools. Unfortunately, it was rainy and windy so we did not get to do the Hot Pools which made for a very long day of essentially just driving from Auckland to Coromandel and back. The "tour vehicle" was a toyota prius which had to fit 4 passengers + driver which made for a very tight drive...and since most of our excursion was simply driving in the car it was not a very enjoyable time. When asked for a partial refund as we did not get to expierience 50% of what we paid for we were denied. My suggestion to potential tourists is if there is expected rain in the forecast, cancel this trip before its too late. Our driver himself was a very enjoyable person and really was the highlight of the drive.

Hey Jordan, am glad you all had a great trip and fun in exploring Cathedral Cove during the morning session
( 1st leg of the tour ).
Yes our tour guide/driver did inform that you all went to the hot water beach in the afternoon ( 2nd leg of the tour ) and took some pictures but couldn’t go coz of the rain/ bad weather.
As you rightly said, we don’t have any control of the weather ( especially midway of the tour ), but our guide took you all to the spot and tried to make every effort that he could have.
Unfortunately this is totally out of our control as the rains came late in the afternoon ( during 2nd leg of the tour ), and am afraid that we wouldn’t be able to offer any compensation in this instance .
Our cancellation policy is specified very clearly that you can cancel up to 24 hours in advance for a full refund due to poor weather.

Hey Roger, had a great time today with our guide..very personable and helps make the drive go by fast. As you may of heard we didnt get to take part in the hot water beach as it was raining pretty hard and windy. Although you do not control the weather is there anyway to receive any compensation in return for the lack of activities done? Best regards

Seem like a very expensive excursion it works out to be over 30$ per hour per person. Why are the excursions so expensive in New Zealand?

Hi Cathy, I am not sure how you arrived $30 / per hour
person . Our excursions are not expensive in New Zealand and infact very competitive for a group of 4 people.
Its $492.31 / per group of four people and its 12 hour trip from Auckland to Catherdral cove @ Hotwater beach. ( 7.30am - 7.30pm arrive as advertised )
So if you calculate $492.31 / 4 =
$123 / per person for 12 hours sightseeing trip.
So per hour works to $123 / 12 hours =
$10.25 / per hour per person
Hope this clarifies and am sure based on the above stats and figures ,you agree how competitive we are.
Prices are quoted for certainly group tour ( 4 people ) - and our company specializes in that category.

Roger and Maxwell Services have picked me up on numerous occasions as my corporate transfer provider for business trips over the last few months. Both I and several of my other work colleagues have found Roger and his employees to be nothing but professional, prompt and so helpful. Thank you for going out of your way to drop my luggage to my airport accommodation and organizing one of your drivers to collect me after the netball game recently, this was over and above what was expected and showed that you are just more than a 'business' that you care and look after your customers. It is well and truly appreciated and I will always recommend you to anyone who requires services of this type in Auckland. Thank you once again Roger! Steph

Cathedral Cove is a must for taking pictures. We were lucky because we had a guide who were allowed to park the van on the top so we just had to walk down. After a photospot it was perfect to experience digging a hole in the sand on the hot water beach. Was a great day!
