I’m not a serious hiker but was able to take the free tourist bus from Mojstrana to the head of the Vrata valley to take a walk up to the start of the Triglav hikes/climb. Absolutely beautiful views from the river bed with a mountain hut (dom) at the start of the route. Decent walking shoes required but otherwise enjoy the beauty of nature all around you.

Climbing North face of Triglav was my wish from my 20th years. My wife and me have climbed alone some easier directions in Julian Alps. But for my 50th birthday my wife has arranged me guiding to Triglav. It was a very fine experience in fine weather. I was just very tired in that years.

Climb Triglav from North face for the ultimate alpine experience. I have climbed this side in summer, autumn and winter and each had been memorable. There are three summer routes from Vrata Valley each spectacular with via ferrata sections.

The north face offers a number of excellent climbing and via ferrata routes. As well as a fabulous mountain, this part of Slovenia is magnificent.

In spring, in summer, in winter - it is always amazing. A stone wall stands at the end of Vrata valley. You can walk close to it, around to Luknja or Kredarica (marked path). Climbing is just for people without fear and with knowledge of climbing. Easy way for ordinary people is a trip with car or bus to Aljažev dom and after just a short walk to the monument of fallen climbers and mountaineers at the end of the valley.

The North face of Triglav is a challenge.
Other sides offers easier way, but if you look on North face from bottom it has some kind of magic and you what to try go through..
Better to split this trek to 2 days and sleep on Kredarica Hut.

I think that the title of this review tells the story, but I will explain it in some important details.
I saw the review from before where it says that it's good for hiking only - and I agree on that because when you see the north side of Triglav mountain you have the urge to climb it and you should - but only if you are an experienced hiker or alpine climber. It's not for everybody, although lots of people want to do it.
There are few trails that go to the Kredarica hut (2500+ meters elevation), located below the 2864 m peak, and all of them are via ferata style. The reservations are not accepted but it is a large building with lots of rooms and space so you can come any time and they will find you a place to sleep. Free wifi, lots of local mountain food and drinks to buy (also the water - because there is no drinking water there).
We went trough Cez Praha trail and it took us 4,5 hours to the hut where we spent that night and went to the peak (1-1,5h via ferata climb) on the next morning. This trail is the most safest on North face of the mountain so I would recommend it to every climber but the real deal is the Bamberg trail (one of the most difficult via ferata trails in Slovenia).
The experience and the views are spectacular and a must have for mountaineers and climbers to visit and conquer.
On the way down we chose different trail witch took us around the mountain and back to the valley and made a circle hike around Triglav with the best views. Warning:only if you are fit for 9 hour walk back - if not go the Chez Praha trail(cca 4-5 hours back from the top)
Also we spent the night in the valley (Aljazev dom) and had the opportunity to see it from bellow and admire the view. People were friendly and very helpful so this experience was totally fulfilling. Best view in Slovenia by far.
But always be careful and take the equipment recommended for this mountain, especially in winter time!

I've hiked in the area. The north side of the mountain isn't the real attraction the valley is, if you ask me.
It was really special to see the snow melting and the green life spawning out where it was melted. It sounds really strange but I will add some pictures to clearify.

The north face of the Triglav mountain is the end of the road. The site itself has a parking place and a coffee shop / restaurant. Still the view, as mighty as it is, does not warrant a special detour, unless you plan to hike in the area.
