This is a very interesting place both for a history buff as well a nature lover !
Makam Di Luba is one of Brunei's important historic sites which is actually the Mausoleum of Sultan Hussin Kamaluddin, the 16th Sultan of Brunei who died in 1740.
The mausoleum is located on an island known as Pulau Luba, a very natural and serene mangrove island in middle of the Brunei River.
Not just being a historic site, this place is also a good place for bird watching and if you are lucky, you may also be able to spot some of the wildlife including the rare proboscis monkeys coming out of the mangrove forest.
For the convenience of visitors, there is a wooden pedestrian bridge linking the island with the mainland riverside where a carpark is located.
If you are interested to visit this place, you can drive to the village of Kg Bunut (about 10km from the city centre) via the main road of Jalan RIPAS-Jalan Tutong.
Look for a road sign that says "MAKAM DI LUBA". Follow the sign until you reached the end of the road, where there is a carpark in which the mausoleum is located.
Alternatively you can also use a water taxi to take you to the place, which will be an interesting cruise along the Brunei River.
Recommended to visit this place with a tour guide and at early morning or late afternoon if you are also looking for wildlife.
