Extremely disappointing! The place is so deserted. From stepping in, employees are sitting on the palace couches eating and talking very loud. The palace is empty yet very unclean. People come after you for money only but are so bored and demotivated to work. The ceiling and the view on the Nile were both breathtaking but unfortunately the employees were so unprofessional. We had a guest with us and I felt so embarrassed showing her how we take care of our antiques. This palace is from the 800!
What a pity! I hope to find a way to submit a legal complaints.

This is a simply a forgotten amazing spot. It was originally a palace built on year 1851 mainly composed of two buildings. One for the owner accommodation and the other serves as a reception area where they hold parties and gatherings. The owner held many official posts among which is the governor of Cairo. The building that acted like the owners accommodation was unfortunately demolished and the one remaining is the reception one. The remaining building despite being a piece of art with very well preserved colors and amazing view isn’t really getting enough care and attention. On the same complex there are two other buildings; one is the museum for the Egyptian singer and artists Om Kolthom (you pay another ticket to visit it) the museum contains her belongings from dresses to jewelry and passports, the songs that she sung with the original hand writing of the poets. Again the museum need more attention. The final building to visit on the same complex is the nilometer. This is what they used to know the level of the nile’s water in the old times before building Egypt dam. Again the doom of the nilometer is piece of art on its own, there are spiral stairs where you can go down. Finally, I have to say how amazing the Nile view is from this amazing and forgotten spot. I rated this place as 3 due to the fact that it is in a very bad shape and not looked after however the original state was for no doubt amazing. It’s a big loss actually.

This is what is left of a large palace that was stupidly demolished. This is the Haramlek (Harem part). Unfortunately it is not very well preserved as the huge Chandler cracjed the ceiling. Music concerts are very well selected.
The attached Um Kolthoum museum is not in a very good situation, although its treasures are very precious. The least they can offer is a gift shop with her CDs, but obviously no body really cares.
The Nile-meter next to it (with the same ticket) is the best of that visit.
