Ching Siu Hin is stop 4 on the Ping Shan Heritage Trail. It is located along Ping Shan Road and is attached to the Kin Ting Study Hall (stop 5) for those following the heritage trail map. This attraction has opening hours of 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm daily (closed on Tuesdays).
Historically, Ching Siu Hin was constructed shortly after the completion of the Kin Ting Study Hall around 1870 and served as a guesthouse for prominent visitors and scholars. It features a moon gate entrance through a path with title boards and is richly embellished with plaster mouldings some of which are Western in style, carved panels and murals. The interior is attractive and nice to see when it is available.
Note: During our more recent visit, the interior or Ching Siu Hin was roped off and closed to visitors. No information was provided regarding this being a temporary or long-term restriction. As such, it may not be possible to enter beyond the titles pathway to see much of the interior of this attraction. Not to worry, you will see similar features in the adjacent Kun Ting Study Hall. Do have a lookout for the small overhead footbridge on the first floor linking the two buildings together.

Ching Shu Hin is one of the historic attractions which make up the Ping Shan Heritage Trail in Yuen Long. It is an adjacent property to the Kun Ting Study Hall, a fellow heritage site and is open for visitation between 9-1pm and 2-5pm daily (Closed on Tuesdays).
This heritage property was built in the 1870s by the Ting Clan and served as a guesthouse for prominent visitors and scholars who might have taught in the study hall next door during their time in the village.Ching Shu Hin was richly decorated during its time. Restored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club in the early 1990s, Ching Shu Hin has been well maintained since, allowing a nice visitation experience.
Inside the building, you can visit several rooms, a small inner courtyard, enjoying the traditional architecture and ornamentation of the building as well as information panels providing history of the property and other attractions which make up the Ping Shan Heritage Trail.
In the end, this is an interesting attraction to pop in and have a look around. You can enter through a side front entrance, that leads through a traditional Chinese Moon Gate into the guesthouse. There is also entrance through the Kun Ting Study Hall as well. Give at least 15-20 minutes to enjoy both of these attractions.
