Beautiful area for all. Wide, smooth trails for kids, grandparents, and disabled. A beautiful setting with meadows, trees and blue skies. There are a some moderately challenging trails off the main trails for more of a workout. I liked visiting the remains of some of the old stone houses that were abandoned the 1920s. These are located just off the main trails. Nice picnic areas with sweeping view. Bring a meal to enjoy!

Nice hike! After 13 hours in the car, we needed movement and found this hike. It was a fun one. We went around 5pm and saw some wildlife (black tail deer and elk). The lookouts are nice and the castle ruins are neat to see. Worth venturing to experience.

This is a regular hike. I've taken my kids on this hike since they were very little. It is not stroller friendly.... but close...
We normally stop at the tower for lunch

It was the last chapter of my winter visit in Colorado. We 've decided to go for an easy a short hike with nice views. We've picked the Mount Falcon Park near Denver. There are few different trails, short ones and longer ones. Even my daughter's dog was with us(on leash). We were hiking for about two hors. Trail was easy, but in some places we had to watch for icy ground. North spots under trees had some snow and steep areas were icy. The views were great. It was near the sunset and the sky was clear. On east side there was a good spot with nice view of downtown of Denver. On the trail we saw some elks, woodpeckers and squirrels. We've liked very much the ruins of the house and Eagle's Eye Shelter. These two spots are great for taking pictures.
I recommend this place for everybody even during the winter.

We really enjoyed this trail when we were in the Denver area. It is relatively easy and offers something for everyone.

Staying in Evergreen so this Park not as convenient as Elk Meadow, Lair o' the Bear and Alderfer/Three Sisters. However, it has some real highlights. We thought the views of Jefferson County were fabulous especially from the Eagle Eye Shelter (on the site of a former summer home). Lots of people and dogs and parking can be challenging. Still it was definitely worth the drive!

Fantastic trail, great views, but way too crowded.
The trail is wide, well-marked, and well-maintained, and the grade is very gentle. While hikers gain 1200 feet in elevation, this hike is really easy. The views of Denver and Red Rocks are phenomenal throughout much of this hike. You can also see Dinosaur Ridge from the hike! Of course, the castle at the top was very fascinating. There is a placard located at the castle containing information about the castle's builder/owner and the history of the area.
The downside - too many people, including bikers. We arrived at the trailhead on a Monday morning at 0730 and the parking lot was almost full. I wanted to go on a hike...not participate in an obstacle course. I was overall impressed by everyone's trail etiquette (on this trail, hikers have the right-of-way over everyone else) and I liked that this route is dog-friendly (we brought our three!). There are just too many people along the Front Range these days; this will be our last hike near Denver. I never had the feeling I was in nature.

My wife and I were in the Morrison and Boulder area for two back to back shows at Red Rocks and wanted to get some hiking done.I have heard of this trail but never had experienced up till now. We are so glad that we did. The views of Denver and Red Rocks amphitheater are awesome to say the least. The trail is rocky so be prepared with proper foot wear. Bring plenty of water as there is very little shade until you reach Mount Falcon.Parking can be a bit tricky, try to arrive a bit early. Pack a lunch and enjoy yourself at one of the many picnic tables. This is not a difficult hike at all. I is VERY worth it for the views. I only wish I had discovered earlier in my travels to the Morrison and Denver area.

Just a quick 30 min drive from central Denver gets you on these trails just south of
Red rocks amphitheater. There are trails that are designated as hiker only and also shared trails with mountain bikers so you can choose whatever works for you.
The trails are well maintained and once you get higher up and on the back side of the mountain there is some shade. Great place to hike with a family/young kids!

Was wondering where exactly you park to do the hike you mentioned. I have a 6 year old so wanted to make it fairy easy hike, but seams like there is a few lots that changes the distances of the hikes. Thanks!

We always use the Indian Hills entrance as we come in from Evergreen. Parking has never been an issue but we usually get there in AM before it gets too hot in Summer.

Yes you can walk around the castle. There is wooden fencing around main areas but you can still enjoy the view and get the “jest” of the area.
You can still get some great photos.
Bring water.
Beautiful flowers and area. Enjoy!
