Manatee Paddle was super responsive and attentive during our paddle experience! The kayaks were clean and in really great shape. Easy on/off loading. Kings Bay was great. We saw manatee, even this late in the year. Were able to swim and cool off at different points along the way. We highly recommend!

Great service kayaks were in good condition. We also ended yo having one less person attend in our party & they we’re understanding and refunded.
This is the second time we’ve used them & definitely will return.

Manatee Paddle was a great experience. Instructions were clear and map was great. Even though it was off season for Manatees we did see about 7 including mama and baby. One manatee came up and put their nose on the paddle board. Would definitely recommend this company. Next time we will try the kayak!!

We received perfect instruction and were put at ease by the employee with all questions answered before heading to the water The kayaks are on a platform to make it easy to get in and scurry off into the beautiful crystal river (very clear). Anyone will enjoy doing this at any age. It was easy and oh-so enlightening to the majestic animals. My family of 6 (ages 6-63) took 3 double kyacks for 3 hours. We were safe and easily paddled all over. We could paddle up to turtles, and exotic birds that were unfolded to sun themselves but the best was being right next to the majestic manatees. We stayed out all 3 hours and saw so much wildlife. Skip the lines and visit nature.

My partner and I hired a kayak for 2 hours. I've wanted to see a manatee in reallife since I was a child but visiting Crystal River out of season meant that this wasn't a certainty. The man from Manatee Paddle met us at the expected time, gave us a brief overview of the kayak and the area and sent us on our way. We saw 3 beautiful manatees and had a truly magical 2 hours on the water.

How young can a kid be to be able to participate in paddle boarding or kayaking
ManateePaddle
Crystal River
Children can ride on the front of a paddle board or in a kayak provided vessel weight capacity is not exceeded, or if they are vigorous, have good stamina, and it's not windy (5mph or less), they can take their own vessel out with their parent. Therefore, it depends on the child's abilities but under the age of 8 is not recommended.

What are the best months to visit and see lots of manatees?
In the colder winter months, you are virtually guaranteed to see a manatee because there are hundreds of manatees in King's Bay congregating near the springs. In the warmer summer months, you have a 25% chance of seeing a manatee with no guarantee because most of the manatees migrate to better feeding grounds in the Gulf of Mexico and those that remain in King's Bay are dispersed throughout the bay making them harder to find. However, in the warmer months, there are still approximately 25 - 50 manatees including some mother-calf pairings that remain in King's Bay. After the first cold front arrives usually in November, the King’s Bay manatee population increases dramatically into the hundreds congregating near the springs virtually guaranteeing a manatee encounter until the weather warms back up usually in April.
We provide local knowledge of where manatee sightings are most likely to occur increasing your chances of a manatee encounter. Also, the longer you are out on the water and the more area you are able to cover, the better the chances of a manatee encounter. Therefore, a 4 hour rental helps your chances of seeing a manatee compared to a 2 hour rental. Lastly and importantly, the beautiful and pristine Three Sisters Springs is open for paddling and snorkeling from April 1 to November 14 and for snorkeling from November 15 to March 31 making your day on the water wonderful and worthwhile with or without seeing a manatee.

Is August too late to see the manatees? As it’s hotter then do they move to a cooler area?

My husband and I have an upcoming reservation with manatee paddle in around 10 days time. Do they provide waterproof bags to store equipment like cameras, etc. Or do we need to bring our own? Thank you

Going to Crystal River this weekend! :). 1. Does Manatee Paddle rent tandem sit-on-top kayaks?
2. Is the water warm enough to be in it in regular swim wear this time of year or is a wet suit recommended? (I swim in creeks up here in TN, so it's too cold til summer) Thanks for any feedback!

Crystal River
We have some availability still this Sunday. You do not usually need a wetsuit because the water is spring fed at about 73 degrees year round and the mid-day air temperature even in winter is normally not cold enough to require a wet suit except on very cold days. This weekend, the forecast mid-day temperature is in the mid 70’s so you should be fine without a wetsuit. We do rent tandem sit-on-top kayaks.
Do you all rent jet skis?
ManateePaddle
Crystal River
Sorry but we do not rent jet skis.

I have my own SUPs...may we use them, if so, is there a discount?

If you have your own SUP then you don't need manatee paddle. Just take your gear to one of the launches. As far as I know they only rent. No guided tours.

Hi Robert and Staff.
We are coming out to Florida and plan on visiting and doing a Manatee Monday on May 2nd. There will be at least 10-15 of us, if not more.
I contacted you guys briefly last month but would like to find out if the Restoration Project is going to create an issue. Are there other locations that you guys know about that will give us a good chance to interact with them?
I understand that there is a 50/50 chance of seeing them.
We are also interested still in the guided tour.
Thanks for any and all information.

Hello Gavin,
Three Sisters Springs is certainly the jewel and most pristine of the King's Bay Springs because it is virtually enclosed with a narrow spring run for entry, and is fed by multiple spring vents resulting in excellent water clarity and purity.
However, there are numerous places to paddle and many other springs to visit in King's Bay as seen on the springs locations map located on our website under maps.
Even if Three Sisters Springs was open, manatees do not congregate there during the warmer months anyway. In warmer weather months, the King’s Bay manatee population declines to about 25 manatees disbursed throughout King's Bay with about half of these congregating near or around Banana Island including some mother-calf pairings that prefer King’s Bay over going out into the Gulf of Mexico. Therefore, the Three Sisters Springs bank stabilization project does nothing to diminish the 50/50 chances of a manatee encounter during the warmer months.
In summary, the Three Sisters Springs Bank Stabilization Project should by no means preclude your visiting now but perhaps may warrant a second trip later :)
Best Regards,
Manatee Paddle

Hello, we were thinking of visiting this summer. I noticed on your website that you mention that the wintertime is rthe best time to see manatees there. Are the manatees still there in the summer? Regards, John

Most of the manatees migrate to better feeding grounds in the Gulf of Mexico in the summer and those that remain in King’s Bay disperse from the springs making them harder to find. However, approximately 20-40 manatees including some mother-calf pairings usually remain in King’s Bay during the summer with about half of those congregating around Banana Island providing a half decent chance for a manatee encounter in the summer with no guarantee. The springs are beautiful and worth paddling to with or without a manatee encounter but Three Sisters Springs is closed this summer only for a bank stabilization project. However, there are many other springs in King’s Bay to paddle to as can be seen on our website under Maps - Springs Locations. On a 4 hour rental allowing you to cover the territory where manatees are most likely found, I would estimate your chances of seeing a manatee at about 50 percent in the summer with no guarantee. After the first cold front arrives usually in November, the King’s Bay manatee population increases dramatically to 500 or more congregating near the springs guaranteeing an encounter in the winter.
