Went the day after Christmas, town was beautifully decorated. Best shop for me was the glass blowing shop, reasonable prices!!! Wednesday was somewhat disappointing for us as that was the day we planned on eating at the restaurant that servers authentic German food, it was closed on Wednesday and so was the German bakery that we wanted to go to! So be sure to note days places are closed and plan accordingly. Went to the Anna Ruby waterfall. Well worth the short but steep hike!!!

This place is just like all the other glass blowing places on a strip- small, stuffy and imported. Yes, there's a lady blowing glass, but it's just a show. Half the crap there, you can find at any glass store anywhere.. nothing is significant or rare. Just junk.

This shop stood out from the regular retail establishment because you were able to see the artist at work, which was a real treat. There was a very large selection and a wide variety of prices. Everyone was very helpful and kind.

Very neat to walk through and gaze at the amazing art. We got to watch an employee as she was blowing glass, and she explained what she was doing each step of the way. They also offer custom pieces.

This is a lovely store and a good place to catch Covid. They don't require masks (many businesses do) there is no social distance and the place, small as it is, gets crowded. We visited briefly because we felt unsafe, but we could have stayed and shopped much more. We believe business owners have a responsibility to care for customers and staff, and this one apparently does not. Shame on them.

I will admit our expectations were low, and we were just about to wrap up our brief visit to downtown alpine Helen when we happened upon this quaint little shop. It was jammed to the gills with kitschy little handmade glass animals and various other knickknacks. But then I saw to my left that an artisan was working behind plexiglass, crafting a tiny piece of glass artwork live in the shop! My family and I stood transfixed for a good 10 minutes, thoroughly entertained, and high-fives were exchanged when my brother successfully identified the item being crafted as Baby Yoda, far earlier than any mere mortal could have done. Good times were had by all.

Then someone called the woman behind the plexiglass an artist... and that's when Scott chimed in, visibly peeved. He insisted that he and all the other staff were also artists, with a hint of reprimand in his tone. There was a subtle but palpable tension building in the room as he began to lecture the kids in the shop (and in hindsight maybe the adults as well) about the miracles of silicon and its role in nature. I admit, as something of a scientist myself, I was digging it pretty hard. Then the lights dimmed, the walls compressed inward, and the air grew cold as Scott took a hard left (or right?) turn into a rapidly downward-spiraling rant about the evils of modern society, the secret but magical regenerative powers of the human body, and the evil profiteering doctors who want to keep it all a secret from us so they can take our money. This went on for a good 10 minutes.

Now as a physician I definitely took issue with most of his twisted, ignorant and deeply misguided anti-establishment manifesto, and probably I should have spoken up. But I was so entranced, bewildered and downright entertained that I just sat there slack-jawed and took it all in. I didn't buy anything that day, but honestly the experience made the whole trip downtown worthwhile and I would pay $10 admission just to hear more of his quackery. I highly recommend this store on your next trip to Helen! Just ask for Scott, then start complaining to him about your doctor, step back, grap some popcorn and watch the fireworks!

The shop is wonderful to visit and the artist is very informative on the art and techniques. The shop is always busy with shoppers. When told a price of a piece by the artist and shop workers make sure the cashier charges you that price. After driving all the way home and checking receipts the next day, I was charged almost 10 dollars more at the register than told the pieces would be.

Not to be missed! Lots of unique blown glass items. Many smalls. Don't bring your kids in here. Lots of fragile items.
