This is where Agni pravesham of Sita mata happened. This is half hour away from Sita Eliya, of Seetha Amma temple. While coming from Seetha Amma temple this comes at the left side of the road. A Budhist Raja vihara is there on the board from the main road. This place also like any other place is filled with Budhisht Viharas. The guide over there told us Hindus didn't know how to worship their sacred places. They were just worshipping stones and Budhist only built temples. Then my husband quoted how it's in the literature about Hindu temples with great architecture. Then he didn't elaborate on Hindu limitations. The agnipravesha place's door is kept locked. He gave us the key to open it. Inside a sculpture of Sita Devis agni pravesha and SitaRama Murthy is there. Outside underneath the tree they show a place where actually here agni pravesha happened. For a Hindu it's a worth ful place to visit. This is where SitaDevi won.

Очень красивое и свящённое место. Сюда приходят влюблённые пары, проводят свадьбы и памятные фотосессии.

This is the place where Seetha did Agni pariksha after the war to prove her purity. It is a small place in front of which is a Buddhist temple. There was a guide who explained everything in detail in Tamil. This place is still believed to be very sacred and lots of disputes are settled here. As local Hindus are very limited in number, they have combined with the Buddhist temple to maintain the place on a long term.

A place to be experienced physically as this is where Mother Sitha Took oath and did Agni Pravesh to prove her chastity. The Ashoka plant with flowers is a treat to our eyes and the small temple dedicated to her is also spell bounding. There is a bBhuddisht temple and Tree adjacent to the temple and the fields surrounding the temple offer a spectacular view. There is an entry charge of Rs. 250 per head (Srilankan Rupees). For those who have read Ramayan this is really a refresher.

This is the place where it is believed that Sita took her oath ( 'Agni Pariksha' ). We arrived here late in the evening , and met the wonderful priest & his family , who were more than glad to show us around. The spot has been marked with a bodhi tree , and there are beautiful paintings inside the building , depicting scenes from the Ramayana. Glad to have been able to visit this significant place.

A little over 15 Km from Nuwara Eliya, on the way to Ella, this is place of significant Hindu mythological importance.
The campus is actually a Buddhist monastery, with a temple and a school.
The Hindu temple is part of the monastery.
Very interesting to see Buddhist priests taking care of a Hindu deity ! And with so much care !
There was a lot of life in the campus, with small children of the campus school running around, playing and giggling..
One of the few places we saw where the place was not well kept...
For a location that is an important destination of Ramayana Tour, we were surprised to see that it was not well kept, there was no one to explain (though we were lucky - the senior Buddhist monk took a liking to us and walked around with us..) There is scope for improvement!

This is said that Sita took oath and gave Agnipariccha at this location. Some vihara built there but nothing like any Sita temple or like. Poorly developed and explored and even bit hard to find. Not very attractive unless some efforts are made to popularize it. Useful only for Ramayana followers or religious people - not other tourists
