The forest paths are well maintained with wood chips and are clearly marked. Watching the Tree Top Trekking was a blast...can't wait to zip line in the woods! There was a wedding going on too...a really nice place for a special event. Best of all, our dog was allowed to join us on the hike!!

The trails are in good condition for the most part and quite well maintained.
The trail markers are easy to see and follow.
Be aware that cyclists use these trails and although most of them are responsible riders there are a few who seem to think they own the trails and pay no heed to walkers.

Thank you to all the idiotic people who walked on the NORDIC XC trails with snowshoes. You ruined our day and 1.5 hour car ride.

Nice place to go with family for a picnic to just enjoy the fresh air. The forest also has trails in the area for people interested in hiking and getting some exercise done.

We attended a wedding here recently and were quite impressed with this out of the way place....the main Centre was quite lovely and accommodated both the ceremony and a seated dinner for approximately 100. Dorm type rooms came with the rental which doesn't suit everyone, but worked for some. Tables and chairs were provided by the venue, but we did need to set up ourselves and bring everything else, but it was worth the effort. It would have been nice if we'd had a better day to enjoy the outdoors, but otherwise, it was a lovely spot for a special wedding.

We were getting ready for a big trip and decided to pop out to limber up the legs for days of skiing to come. We had a lovely 1.5 hour trek through the woods. The forest here is quite open in that there is very little low brush so it's cool to see through the trees down in to the valleys and across the flat areas. I've heard there are deer and kept my eyes peeled but no sightings. the skiing was fairly easy terrain with nice wide turns and long straight cuts. We are not excellent skiers, so one big hill had us both laughing flat on our backs!!!!

Beautiful hiking trails within the forest.
Multiple trails (various distances), we did the yellow trail (4km). It was beautifully maintained. We passed one lady riding a horse and another couple on the trail. Otherwise it was really tranquil.
The ground on trail was Soft, but not muddy and there was fair amount of horse dung on the trail we were on.
As for entrance fees, you can self service after business hours. 6$ per adult for day entry.
Bring some water, and decent hiking shoes. Stay on the main trail. If you want to have a picnic there is area for this near the parking lot.
I will be back to explore the Ganaraska Forest.

Ganaraska Forest is part of the world's largest forested area, the Ontario Greenbelt. The endless walking trails are great. Tower Hill is a must place to check for out being part of Canadian history.

Beautiful trails and accomodations (with a Scout group. Clean and well marked trails in and out of the forest. Would love to walk, or horseback ride next time during the fall with all the beautiful colours.

Is Ganaraska Forest a suitable destination for a mixed group of 20-30 adults (mostly in 40s & 50s) for a day trip from Toronto? Our primary objective is to have an picnic/outing. Some of us may venture out on the trails, and do the Treetops adventure, but not everyone will participate.
Would appreciate if you can call me on 416 357 0041 or give me a # to call back on (specify time of day when best to call).
Thanks
