We did the Christmas cookies and hot cocoa with captain Santa. It was a cute event that was geared towards younger children. Our 11 year old was a little bored, but we enjoyed the atmosphere and the friendly staff. Wish I knew the name of one of the female employees, she was newer to the team and top notch!!! Cookies were fantastic, but cocoa was less than desirable. Only reason for 4 out of 5 stars was the sticky, dirty carpet and poor bathrooms. One of the bathrooms had a leak and was shut down while we were using them.

Overall, fun experience with great staff!

I have this experience to myself as a reward for completing a big work project (business conference). The riverboat was old but very clean, exactly as one would expect. The employees were friendly and attentive. While out, a firework show was presented in a park near the Big Four Bridge and the boat stopped so we could enjoy the event. That was a really nice touch!

The second floor windows are cleaner and easier to see out of. I bypassed both and spend most of my time up top, watching the sky and river and trees in relative quiet.

I would give the overall experience a full five stars… except… I bought the dinner experience. That’s where it goes downhill.

The bar are was shabby and expensive. A two stoplight town with a single movie theatre would have more snacks. Popcorn in a box, nachos with the pump cheese product, canned beer. If you bought a bottle of wine, you’d get plastic cups (the people next to me did this.)

If you preordered champagne, your table was given real glasses… I saw that a couple tables down.

The dinner was high school cafeteria fare: canned green beans, an iceberg lettuce salad that likely came from a bag, with cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, and garlic croutons. Two dressings to choose from, each with silver cafeteria ladles.

The chicken was a chicken fried something drenched is a cheesy sauce. The rolls were yummy but cold and I couldn’t spread butter in mine. The dessert was boxed brownie mix things with different colors of frosting or a choice of cookies. They ran out of desserts before the last tables were fed. There was a choice of water or premix pink lemonade.

My recommendation: Louisville has amazing food and great bars. Eat there then take the cruise. Hit up a bar afterwards. The cruise is well worth the money. The dinner is money better spent in town.

I agree with all the other reviews, this is a must. The boat is huge with plenty of room for walking around and seeing the Ohio River and the banks of Indiana and Kentucky. Beer and wine are cheap--$5-$8. The drinks are on the expensive side--$12-$15. The snack bar is a step up, they have more than just chips and popcorn (See Photo.) Our boat wasw from 7-9p. It would be nice if they could change it to 6-8p this late in the year, as we could have seen the sunset during the ride.

We really enjoyed our cruise. Parking was convenient and reasonable. The 100 yr. old steam powered paddle boat was loaded with people for throwback Thursday and the dance floor was packed people having fun dancing to old school music. The top deck is partially covered and open air which offers great views of both banks of the Ohio. Equipped with a bar, concessions and very clean restrooms the ship has just about everything you’ll need for a great evening. Don’t forget to stop down to the lower deck to check out the engine room. It was very cool. Staff was great and could answer any questions you might have. Reasonably priced it’s a must do when visiting Louisville.

We enjoyed a leisure cruise on a beautiful day! It was nice to relax as we cruised down the river. It was nice to have music and concessions available too.

I booked an Edgar Allan Poe cruise not really knowing what to expect. Turns out, it was acting vs poetry reading and it was pretty neat! If you like spooky season things, you'd like this.

They have a lot of selections for alcohol if that's your thing. The wine wasn't good but who cares! I am on a boat cruise, not a wine tasting.

But really the highlight of our cruise was the accidental tour of some of the workings of the ship. During intermission of the Poe stuff, we went exploring and we got to talk to a lot of folks who work on the ship and it was SO INTERESTING! The staff was very kind and answered all our questions and showed us how the boat works. It's not necessarily an advertised thing, but the folks on the ship were great and this was such a cool, accidental experience. If you're on a more crowded boat, they might not be able to show you around, but if it's not too crowded, go down to the lower level of the ship and look around. Such a cool piece of history and engineering.

Nice relaxing trip on a floating piece of American history! Evening cruise started with day/dusk views of Louisville and Southern Indiana, then beautiful night views on the way back to the wharf

We had a great time until we docked. We were lined up by the exit door for quite some time and airing to disembark. The crowd got bigger and people became frustrated. I was honestly a bit afraid for my safety. This is the one thing that needs to be improved. It might have been nice to have an employee there to explain why it was taking so long.

We booked a Sunset Cruise aboard the Belle on a beautiful Saturday night. I had wanted to do this for years but, put it off due to schedule conflicts and because I thought it would be expensive. It is NOT. This cruise was less than the cost of dinner for two at my favorite restaurant.
The crew is highly professional and getting drinks and snacks was fast and easy even on a fully booked cruise.
The views of downtown and the bridges are spectacular. You will also see beautiful scenery and likely some towboats working the river as well.
You should find a restroom before you arrive at the dock and get there early to find parking. Boarding usually begins an hour before departure. There are restrooms on board the Belle.
You're not going to find another experience like this on a REAL steamboat anywhere else. Don't wait any longer.

A relaxing afternoon touring the Ohio River on an old fashioned steamboat. Very well organized considering the crowd, which was a diverse blend of all kinds of people. There were lots of families with little children but also many elderly tourists enjoying a hot summer day on the Ohio River.
