4.40pm we went, had my partner, daughter ans my autistic son with me. Firstly, the car park closed at 4.30pm, first upset for my son as we had to turn around to find somewhere to park. Then we went to feed the ducks, everyone was happy, park was great then my son said ice-cream. It was closed I went to take him to the toilet, that was closed aswell. Nothing was open! It was still light, no reason for it to be closed. My son didn't understand why he couldn't have a ice-cream, he was upset to the point I had to physically pick him up and take him to the car, which was parked near the entrance due to the car park being closed.

As a family we've been going to Pennington Flash for years, but have to say this is probably the last time. It's really run down, the paths are in a terrible state. We visited in February so we expected puddles, but it's very muddy. Our children wanted to go on the new play area, but it's a mess. The play equipment is great but covered in mud as the ground is a muddy swamp and very slippery. The place is certainly not pram or wheelchair friendly. There was also quite a lot of dog mess around the paths. We had planned to do a walk but gave up in the end, as it's wasn't very enjoyable. We tried to get a drink in the cafe, but the queue was huge, instead we paid for some very small overpriced ice creams. Wigan Council really need to invest some money in this place as it's looking very sad.

Came here with a couple of old school mates who are both 'twitchers'. I wasn't expecting such a vast area for walking with a sizeable lake and a very good café, The Hide.

Started at the café, very well stocked, cake looked good. You have a good view of the lake and the birdlife from here. The guys were already spotting all sorts.

We set off for the hides, lots of dog walkers and young children enjoying themselves. It was very muddy and we unfortunately couldn't make it to one of the major hides as it was marooned, so much flooding. I just don't own a pair of wellies, you need them.

This is a great open space for everyone to enjoy.

Not the best time of year to visit but we picked a dry day. On arrival the lake looked nice and we planned to do a walk around it. We charged up the car at one of the points in the car park.

Toilets by the cafe were nice and clean.

We started walking around the lake and it soon became apparent that many of the paths were like a thick bog, flooded or both. It was difficult to even get around at all as the mud and water was across the whole of the path in many areas. I couldn’t enjoy the walk as I was too busy trying to watch where I was putting my feet and trying to stay upright.

Part way around there was an option to go via the road which we took because of the terrible pathways. We then looped back to the lakeside path further on.

This would have to dry out a lot for me to want to attempt to walk around again. Which is a shame as it’s a nice area.

Frequent the area , the initial parking that was at the entrance ( immediate left ) has been closed for years now - feels like your being cheated out of an option that was there in the name of ££££

The new park is a welcomed upgrade from what it was , grass sadly dying, get the green felt/astro turf on the mounds.

Like to have a stroll around the general area .
Generally litter free ( generally )

The only thing that annoys me is dogs off leads (I'm not a dog owner)
You have dogs on leads being approached by dogs running freely and starting scuffles .
You have dogs running around the play area ,a kid will get bit soon mark my words. Screaming energetic kids and curios dogs .

Pay machines sometimes have been down , so having to walk to the new building and back gets annoying with a ticket.

Other than that . Fine.

Excellent day with primary aged children, easy walking with lots of places for picnics. Lots of water fowl to see including many swans and geese. Extensive children’s play area that was new in 2023. Dogs are allowed and can be off once you are away from the busy car park and cafe area.
Cafe was clean with a reasonable amount of space.
Car parking was a little confusing whilst the payment technology was been sorted but was a reasonable £2.50.

Fantastic new play park! Everything you could want. Hours of fun playing, then feed the ducks, play in the woods, long pram walk around the flash! 10/10 day. Well done to all those involved in the renovations!
