been a few years; last saw Macbeth.
August 1, 2024: Merry Wives of Windsor. EXCELLENT Performance. All cast members were on top of their game.
The Staff (mostly Volunteers) polite, accommodating, and such.
The view of the lake in the background makes for a neat Amphitheater experience.

We went two nights this year to see Forever Patsy Cline and The Merry Wives of Windsor. The weather perfect and the shows outstanding. This is their 52nd season and we're so happy we discovered this summer event several years ago. It's the best thing going at the lake when it comes to entertainment. A bit of a drive to get to Sand Harbor, but well worth it. If you like local theatre that's a cut above most, this is the place! Once you've been here, you'll be hooked, just like us.

Gorgeous venue sits on the side of a sandy hillside overlooking the lake at sunset. Then you add a professional live theater performed by a class act of actors and you get a magical night under the stars. We upgraded our seats to sit in Adirondack chairs with a solid ground. All the other seats had Sandy bottom. Which would have been fun too. I don’t think there is a bad seat in the house. Just be aware that non premium seats have Sandy bottom. Think it could be fun but if you don’t like the sand make sure you upgrade. We enjoyed delicious food and drinks from a server in the upgraded seats too. Both meals were yummy and were delivered in a bag to our seats similar to door dash or any other take out. This makes it convenient to throw trash in. We brought our own wine and that was ok with them. I love the casual environment with happy people surrounding us. It drizzled during show but they sold ponchos for $2 which I appreciated. They also stopped the show part way through to dry up the stage so actors wouldn’t slip. They communicated this could happen from the start. We LOVED our night and it was truly a highlight to our vacation. I visited the same place in summer of 1991. It has been upgraded but still has a lot of the same casual professional vibe which I fell in love with long ago. Loved seeing that.

My family and I had a terrible time at the last show of the festival. The weather was terrible - cold temperatures and rain, and I when I asked, I told I could not receive a refund or credit for a future show. We went because our tickets were quite pricey and were truly shocked that they did not cancel the show. Not only was it cold, it was very windy and raining. There was no regard for the audience at all. We left when the rain was coming down quite hard and naturally lI was upset that we were made to endure the extreme discomfort, and then after a family member began feeling illness coming on due to sitting in the rain, we finally left, there was nothing offered after I explained the situation to the box office manager. She was extremely rude and seemed to care only about the actor whom they stopped the show for towards the end. What about the customers - the audience? It was a completely beyond terrible experience. I have never had a worse experience at a show, nor a worse experience with customer service.

bsolutely great evening at Sand Harbor! Fun show against a spectacular setting.
After reading the parking information specified on the helpful website, we arrived early (6:10 pm for a 7:30 performance) with our preprinted parking pass and had no problem. Our family of 4 packed a picnic dinner with a bottle of wine for the grownups and sat at tables provided before proceeding to our seats.
The enjoyable play started on time and the crowd was appreciative. With the youth discount for those under 25 years old, it was the most reasonably priced activity we had all week!

At the end of the show, you see that the main gate on Hwy28 is locked, and your driver cannot get in to pick you up !! To meet with the driver, my husband and I walked to the main gate. The Crown Taxi driver could not find the gate in the dark (9:45 PM). We had to wait for him 35 min in pitch dark. A lost baby bear walked toward us and the rest was so scary! Why that area doesn't have some lights? When you open a theater, sell tickets, collect/match donations to your foundation, my security is under your responsibility till I leave the sand harbor. By locking the gate you secure the location and throw your visitor into the dark/danger highway

I really liked the play, we saw the Little Shop of Horrors. My teen boys loved it. Plays have been there since the 1970's, I did not realize that. They built a command station in the back since the last time I was here. I wonder why they have not updated the seating area. I do wish they would make this more disabled-friendly. The seats are fabric and aging, I was waiting for my son to break through the bottom of the ripped seat. It is hard for older people to walk in the sand to their seats. Apparently the disabled can request a seat way on the side where the stage would be hard to see. I recommend sneakers or boots, it is hard to walk in the sand with sandals and flip-flops. The volunteers wear sneakers and boots. Bring a blanket, it can get chilly when the sun goes down. Bring bug spray, I was eaten alive. I think the theatrical lights attract a lot of bugs.
I'm disappointed with the food, way too expensive. I used to like to splurge but this year it was $25 for a so-so-tiny sandwich. My teens had to eat 2 sandwiches. Bring your own food and drink. You can eat it at your seats.

Location! This is a beautiful venue to watch a show. The event seems to be a spot that locals mostly come to. The doors opened at 5:30 with the show - we saw Mamma Mia! - starting at 7:30 p.m. Everyone lines up along the pathway and volunteers come and pass out bracelets for your seating area. You can bring in food and drinks - and some smart people had little tables they set up to enjoy some wine and charcuterie. We were there in August and the sun was setting just as the show was about to start. You can walk down to the beach and there is a trail off to the right that goes out to overlook the lake. We sat out there for a while so the trail was shut down on the way back. We had to go down and walk the beach to get back, which was fine for us. You can also buy food and drinks there. I had read that the food was super slow and not good, but the lines seemed to be moving fast and everything looked good. We had picked up food on the way so didn't try it. I would highly recommend. We brought our kids and they even had a great time. I wore sandals and would probably recommend tennis shoes as you have to walk up a hill to the seats that is very fine dirt/sand with tiny rocks that get stuck in sandals. It gets a bit chilly in the last hour, so would recommend bringing a blanket or shawl to cover up with.

My husband and I spent our anniversary here to see the Million Dollar Quartet (his time period, not mine ;) ). I enjoyed photographing the views and and the sunset (no photos allowed of the performance and they will notice you...although not when it's late since many were filming then). There are plenty of speakers so if seeing the actors faces isn't as important as enjoying the lake too, you can sit up in the nose bleeds (it's cheaper there anyway) to get the best view of the lake behind and around the stage.
I will say I am sorry that others posted the food was bad and slow. I don't think they were talking about the concert area because had I known there was good food and no line, I would have purchased my dinner there instead of dragging in a sandwich. Oh well.

Excellent quality youth production of Taming of the Shrew.
The format made it easy to understand the story. My son was chosen to be a cameraman for the show and it made his day. He was delighted to be on stage and be part of the production.
If I was being picky I would say that the costumes could be better as they were a mish-mash from different eras.
What a beautiful setting and very comfortable seats.
We had to park our RV in a different parking place, which was not clear from the signage so we had to line up twice to get into the car park and it was double the price of a car (20 dollars).

Does parking fill up quickly?
Rédigé le 18 juillet 2017
Yes, it can, particularly on weekends. The good news is that day visitors are leaving about 5-5:30 p.m. when the evening guests for Shakespeare arrive. Go early, and plan on having a picnic supper outside.

I don't know. I am sure you can find it on line. Not sure they start that early. I think it does not start till June. We are expecting snow this week.
