I went there to photograph the falls in the late afternoon. It was a fair hike given I had a lot of the camera gear to carry. Slippery too, so appropriate footwear i.e., boots, was important. I came across some elderly people doing the hike with unsuitable footwear. They were clearly finding it difficult and dangerous. The falls themselves were excellent, perhaps the best in the region and less crowded than Diana's Baths. In October it would be even better with the colourful foliage.

We were passing through the area in the afternoon and had planned to hike Arethusa Falls. A Ranger in the area recommended Ripley and we are happy he did! It was a nice hike, we were about the only ones on the trail, and the falls at the end are beautiful. Definitely recommend!

Needs something to do that was healthy and fun and not too hard for older adults and younger children. We picked this place.
Parking was an issue as we were not the only ones to decide to try this place.
While the walk is fairly short the terrains get tougher and rougher the far in you go. Lots of rock and roots.
The hike was worth it in the end as the falls were spectacular and with the colorful foliage it was worth the time and energy.
Highly recommend this place.
I would love to see this place in spring when the water is really running.

A nice reward for a half-mile hike up a pretty well-traveled path. Lots of other hikers along the way but not too many. Enough to make a solo hiker feel safe. While some reviews here call it an easy hike, there were some mildly challenging spots along the way: tree roots and rocks to maneuver over and some wet areas due to mountain runoff, making rocks and leaves on the path slippery. The Falls are mesmerizing and soothing as the water spills down a steep granite face. Well worth the Hike. Especially beautiful hike in the fall foliage season.

The trip up to Ripley was very difficult for my physically challenged 5' tall wife. She enjoyed it though, we visited the day after a substantial rainfall and the falls were really rushing. If you are in good physical condition then this falls would be no problem for you and the time on the signs would be accurate. If you are not in the best of shape, plan to double the hiking time. The trail is rough in spots and there are places I had to pull my wife up due to her short legs. Most areas she was able to grab a tree and pull herself up.

This was the highlight of our trip! Pictures do not do this place justice. Falls are way taller than we expected. Only complaint we had was that the trail head had little/no markers indicating where Ripley Falls were. (Then again, we made it) We will be back!

Makkelijke, korte trail die binnen een uur te doen is (heen en terug). Je kunt bij de weg parkeren of nog even iets omhoog rijden waar een kleinere parkeerplaats is. De waterval is mooi.

Located in Crawford Notch, Ripley Falls is a beautiful cascade sheeting down the rock face. The hike there is quite uphill, and some parts of the trail could be challenging for people with small children, though I saw a number of young families up there. Know your child's endurance before you go-- kids who hate walking are going to be unhappy all the way up. Also be aware that some portions of the trail are right at the edge of the drop-off. The hike will take anywhere from 15-45 minutes, depending on how fit you are and how often you stop to take pictures. I was definitely on the longer end.
Bring along a towel so you can soak your feet in the water once you get there. It's a beautiful spot to sit and relax and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. If you're a really intrepid hiker, continue along the trail to Arethusa Falls, which is only five minutes down the road by car, but quite a bit longer on foot.

Many cars parked near the road, but there is another parking area up the hill which saves a bit of climbing. The sign says 20 minute hike- which it might be for the App. Trail hikers but for us occasional hikers it was a somewhat difficult uphill hike with a lot of scrambling for footholds among roots and rocks. Follow the blue dot trail - there are other trails here as well. We toughed it out and the falls were lovely. No restrooms at this site.

moderate trail to the falls. it was a humid nd bright day so I brought a backpack with bug spray, water, and misc. it was a great trip up and down. some steep inclines but not too hard to get thru. very fun and worth every step to see the falls at the end!!!
