We came here for an extremely avant-garde dance performance, accompanied by an associated art gallery. The large building and huge performance space gave a lot of space for the two dancers, props, and a smattering of audience chairs around the outside. The unusual set up ensured every member of the audience felt like it was a nearly personal experience with a unique perspective. Ticketing and the lobby were fairly informal, as you would expect from a local theater. The performance though, was something you might expect to see in a black box in New York City. It was honestly not my favorite show, but I enjoy having my expectations challenged and being pushed out of my comfort zone.

After agonizing decades of restoration, a questionable rebranding and a variety of management changes, the Hudson Opera House is finally open for business. After a couple of seasons of programming, I can give this place a full-throated “pretty good.” The Stephen Petronio dance company has been the main headliner there for two seasons and this is a great place to see his work. The rest of the programming is ok but could be better. It’s a bit cobbled together from local performers and I often scratch my head to find something I really want to go to. It’s small town hipster, heavy in the drum circle programming for kids but I just wish it was more compelling. The interior restoration is quite nice and I’m just happy after years of attending fundraisers that it’s finally done. It feels however that the restoration tried to cool down the Victorian architecture and make in more modern with lots of grey paint. It just makes the space a little cold when it really should sing. This a nice small town venue and you could do worse than attending something here. I just hope they find their stride and improve the programming a bit.

This is the oldest theater in New York State, dating from 1855. It was abandoned in 1962 and sat empty until the wonderful restoration was finished in 2017, and it is, again, gorgeous. Lots of celebs spoke here in the good old days; Teddy Roosevelt, Susan B. Anthony, Ralph Waldo Emerson; the Hudson River School of painters exhibited here. As a musical venue, the acoustics are excellent, and the seating is very comfortable. The day we attended their new Jazz Festival, it was catered by Backbar, and the food was delicious and very affordable.

We were so excited that the Hudson Opera House was renovating their main performance space that we booked it for our September 2017 wedding before the restoration was even done! The team at Hudson Hall was so warm, accommodating and fun to work with on our event, which included rigging up over 100 paper lanterns from the ceiling. It was a truly magical event -- a black tie masked ball -- and we could not have asked for a better space. We just wish we could have partied til dawn!

We went for a free concert by TON (The Orchestra Now) at this hall. The stage is a bit small, so only a subset of the orchestra could fit. Also the stage is rather high. But the acoustics are excellent. The place has exhibition space in the ground floor. Very nice! All very recently renovated. Seating is on free-standing chairs. Overall this is very much a community place. Worth a visit when there is a performance. Otherwise it is probably less of interest (except the exhibition).

Thank you for attending the free concert by The Orchestra Now of Bizet's Symphony in C. We're so pleased you enjoyed the acoustics in the restored performance hall and seeing our exhibition space. We hope to see you again at another Hudson Hall event!

We attended a late afternoon performance of the opera "The Mother of us All" in this beautiful building. Large black and white photos grace the walls of the downstairs lobby and hall. Refinished floors sparkle and the staircase is typical of large buildings of the era. Upstairs, the performance space is large and natural light streams through large floor-to-ceiling windows, a very pleasant ambience!

This warms our heart as Susan B. Anthony spoke thrice in New York State's oldest surviving theater. Thank you for joining us for a performance of Gertrude Stein and Virgil Thomson's opera about the life of Susan B. Anthony,"The Mother of Us All." We look forward to seeing you at another Hudson Hall event in the near future.

Was nothing to see. Needs to be restored. Wasn't what I expected. They had a little history of the place but wasn't really interesting. It ws in and out in 15 minutes. Would not recommend it.

The Hudson Opera House has brought concerts and art exhibits to Hudson for years. Programming is very high quality, and the performance space is intimate. The building was once a bank, and after that an opera house, where Jenny Lind sang (I think). Foresighted people in Hudson saved the building and it is now a vibrant community center--with all sorts of arts programs. Very nice bathrooms too, open to the public.
