Must see, but park here
oct. 2021
A must see spot if you're in the area. Magnificent scenery of landscape and wildlife. But don't pay $5 to park in the main lot with the sign. It has a picnic grounds and restrooms, but you must walk some distance to view the bluffs, expecially from the lakeside. Instead, drive a mile or so beyond this lot, make a left on East Bay Road and park at the unpaved spots right at the lake. Restrooms are available here as well as a trail to the top of the bluffs or access to the lakeshore for a view from the bottom

Nice park to hike- dog enjoyed it too
août 2021
Daughter and I made the trip here to check out the bluffs. Parking was $5 unless you have a state park pass. Unfortunately the day we went, the area had gotten some rain the week prior and trails were muddy. Also brought along our black lab who did enjoy the extra dirt however. Had it been a little less muddy, the trail would have been pretty enjoyable we think. Will need to go back here to experience the full effect. The chimney formations are fabulous to see. We did stop at a local vineyard afterward as well so that made the trip all the more better.

Beautiful sunny hike 10/12
oct. 2021 • En couple
My wife and I decided to explore along Lake Ontario today and spent a couple hours hiking along the top of the bluffs and along the shore.

Pictures of a faded map of the park trails, a couple representative trail pictures, views from the top of the bluffs to the lake and along the bluffs are attached. Tripadvisor wouldn’t let me attached my picture of the entrance sign.

Good picnic area
oct. 2021
Picnic area was nice! Appreciated the paved trail to the area also, although it only went out so far and then it switches to gravel. I have a scooter and it was hard to ride on the gravel. The map of the park is confusing. Our GPS took us to the right of the bluffs. Basically, there is nothing there. We got back on the road and then found the other entrance. If you can’t walk far or hike, follow the paved path on the parks entrance to the wooden fence and go to the far left and look over to your right to see the cliffs. It’s off in the distance but is still cool to see!

A pleasant and small park on the shores of Lake Ontario between Rochester and Oswego. The chimney formations are neat to see, and the beach access is nice to see the cliffs from below. The installation of a stair case on the east side of the cliffs was really nice to see. Fencing has been installed at the top in some areas since last year as it seems that too many folks were getting too close to the edge. Restrooms and picnic area on the west side of the park are a welcome bonus. The park attendant at the Fair Haven State Park entry gate told us the the entry pass at Chimney Bluffs is one of the cheapest around and grants you entry to all state parks for a week, even entry to parks with a more expensive entry fee.

Amazing Bluffs and Views of Lake Ontario
août 2021
One will see amazing bluffs at Chimney Bluffs State Park. After parking there is a walk toward the lake with spots for picnicking. The real gem is the bluffs themselves. It is worth the hike on the trail through the woods to see these natural gems. There are beautiful views of the lake an bluffs along the trail. One should wear appropriate shoes for hiking and may get muddy in some areas of the trail especially after rain.

Beautiful Natural Setting - Plan Your Visit
août 2021
Contact them, if you can, before going. We arrived to find out that the majority of the Bluff Trail, which has the best views of the coast, was closed due to an invasive species causing issues. Too many hikers were not complying which was going to exacerbate the issue, but I am not the "park police". We complied and hiked two interconnecting trails through the woods to a point at the far end of the bluff trail to find that was taped off as well. Pretty disappointing trip. After parking in the upper lot, which does have the $5 fee with clean bathrooms, we drove to the lower parking lot, which as no fee and bathrooms I did not visit, and walked along the beach. It is an amazing view looking up at the bluffs, but not the same as from the top. We climbed the steps from the East Bay, lower lot, and I counted for you. There are just over 200 steps to the top of the bluff. Most of the edge is fenced off for your safety so you cannot really get to the edge for any views or photos. Once again there were breeches in the fence where some went through regardless of the dangers. If you get too close to the edge and your footing should give it is a very long drop to the bottom. The hiking trails were enjoyable as they are tree covered and you weren't constantly in the sun. All of the staff members we met were very pleasant and informative. We hope to return one day to enjoy the full Bluff Trail.

Short drive from Sodus Point

Excellent views on bluff trail. If you enter on Garner road trail goes to other entrance, it is not a loop! When you get to steps, think twice if you have knee issues. You will need to return same path, trail is well marked and fairly easy. Strollers would not do well.

Great Hike, beautiful views
juin 2021
We did this hike with our 2 grandsons ages 9 and 7, it's approx. 3 miles full circle. We parked at the top lot (pay $5) and hiked along the top ridge for amazing views, we went down the new constructed set of steps and ended up at the lower parking area (no pay) and we walked along the shore line all the way back to the start. Beautiful afternoon. There are charcoal grills at top parking area so pack a lunch and enjoy.

Unique hike in unique geography, perfect nature activity
mai 2021 • Entre amis
Perfect spot for a hike in nature for a couple hours. Features there are unique geographic formations along the coast, with stunning views against the lake. There are multiple trails throughout the area so you can go along the coast one way and return another. It's not a very difficult hike, however if you go through the woods there is a slight incline. The main thing to look out for is high winds along the coast and also if it has been raining at all, be sure to bring sturdy hiking boots that can get very muddy. You will get muddy if it has been raining. Admission is basically just paying for parking, which you do via a machine in the parking lot that takes cards or what have you., for about $2-5 or so. Overall, a unique spot to visit, particularly for nature lovers.
