I attended this temple back in the early 60's. This was long before the congregation moved up into Beachwood. The style is classic and supposedly was designed after King Solomon's Temple.

Thanks to the 9th annual Jewish FilmFest in Cleveland, we had the pleasure of being in Silver Hall of the Maltz Performing Arts Center, formerly known as the Temple Tifereth Israel. Architect Charles Greco designed this handsome large facility in the 1920's for one of the most important Jewish congregations in the country which was led by Rabbi Abba Silver for 46 years.
When the members of the congregation moved to the nearby community of Beachwood, the Temple became a gift to Case Western Reserve University as a performance hall. Thanks to a multi-million gift from the Maltz Family, it has had a major renovation with a very comfortable seating capacity of over a thousand. The movable stage is large enough for a full orchestra.
"Breaking Home Ties" was the 1922 classic silent film which over 200 persons enjoyed. We felt very fortunate because only 20% of the silent films from the first two decades of the 20th century have survived. Pianist Donald Sosin and violinist Joseph Morag provided the live music of the original score for the 88 minute presentation.
