Tuesday afternoon 22nd August and we took a stroll around this historic old market in the heart of Kingston.
Back in the day this was once a bustling market filled with fruit, vegetables, fish and other stalls. It is now predominantly street food stalls.
The triangular shaped market is surrounded by beautiful old Tudor style buildings, mostly shops, worth walking around just to look at the buildings and their ornate fronts.
At the bottom, larger end of the Market stands the impressive Grade II listed, Market House with it's two tall towers, one at each side of the building. It was built in 1840 and served as the town hall until 1935.
The bowed front entrance has balcony above it with a stone balustrade. Standing at the front of the balcony is the guilded statue of Queen Anne, which overlooks the Market.
At the top end of the Market, the apex of the triangle, stands the Shrubsole Memorial. This statue pays tribute to Henry Shrubsole who was mayor of Kingston on three occasions.

Visited the Kingston Christmas market for a mooch and a mulled wine a couple of weeks before Christmas to get that christmassy vibe.
The market was busy and had a great atmosphere. While we were there there was a young guy with a guitar singing a range of songs and he was really good.
There were a variety of food, drink and stalls selling christmas fayre all done in a traditional German style.
There are also large marquees in front of the church housing further craft stalls which are worth a browse round.
The decorations around the market and Kingston itself were great where so pretty definitely worth a wander to appreciate them.
If you want a nice christmassy thing to do pre Christmas as not cost if you don't want to spend any pennies I recommend this next year.

The ancient market is a central part of Kingston upon Thames. The old town atmosphere is kept alive by this small market that provides a mixture of produce, local traders and food and drink. It is surrounded by various modern shops with a shopping centre close by. You can get away from it all with a walk along Queen's Promenade. The Christmas market is nice and provides food and drink for the season with entertainment. It can get very busy and it can be hard to find a place to sit. The benefit is that there is plenty of distractions as the market is a short experience for a visit.

We visited this market whilst we were visiting Kingston upon Thames and we enjoyed our visit. The market was not that big but the stall they had all had wonderful food snd things for sale. The meat, fish and all other food looked so good, so fresh and it was a shame we had a way to travel home or I would have got quite a bit there. I would recommend a visit.

Sunday 27th February and we took a stroll around this old market, which was surprisingly busy
It certainly was a hive of activity, with the majority of stalls open for busines, selling fruit & vegetables, bread and cooking food. The variety of smells emanating from the from the stalls cooking a range of cuisines was tantalising and tempting.
The golden statue of Queen Victoria, above the entrance to the grand Market House, glistened in the almost spring sunshine. Even the old stone statue of the Water Carrier, at the top end of the Market Place, appeared to be enjoying the sunshine.

The old market area is a very quaint part of Kingston on Thames. There are a lot of stalls and it’s well organised. Recommended.

I really enjoyed seeing all of the different stalls. It is a lively place to be.
There is a lovely pub, The Druid's Head, which is the perfect place for lunch.

I love the market in Kingston. I'm buying there fresh fruit and vegetables and delicious bread. There are also stalls with vegan food.

Is the market open every day in May?

Our club is organising a river boat day trip from Kingston to Richmond, just wanted some information as mobility is a bit of an issue
