It's beautiful! You do need to walk down many stairs to get to the trail but definitely worth it. Beautiful waterfall and even if it's cooler or no water, the scenery is worth it.

We used Google Maps to find our way here and it led us to an auxiliary parking area. It was ok (and there's a cool little suspension bridge nearby) but it was hard to get back to where we started, so it took a lot longer to hike out than planned. Just be sure to find the main parking area.
The water levels in August are low, so we didn't expect to see much at the falls. We were right. You can walk closer to the rock structures than you could in other conditions, but there isn't any water falling and the pool is murky.
After spending a minute or two there, however, continue on around the bend. There are a few bridges to cross and additional areas to climb (natural stone steps) and explore. These areas were much more interesting and only a few sections were moderate to traverse.
When trying to get back to our car we found a section that has you walk over boardwalks and between tall stone sections, which was neat as well.

We went on a Girl Scout trip with 14 girls and 7 leaders. The girls loved the falls and caves. They enjoyed seeing the snapping turtles and looking for tadpoles and snakes as well.

I have been coming to Huck and heels for the past 40 years and this is always my favorite hike, especially the one that goes from the wonderful cedar Falls all the way to old man cave and it is about 3 miles. The new Hocking Hills Lodge is just amazingly well done and luxurious and the restaurant is very very good.

Cedar Falls is a large and beautiful waterfall. They have just completed a new and very large parking area and adjacent restrooms.

The trail is currently a two way trail due to the parking lot being under construction, so this trail could be hard to navigate during peak times when crowds are heavy. The path between the rocks is narrow and uneven, not too hard to navigate on a good day, but with two way crowds could get very congested. With the current set up, the waterfall is at the start of the trail, which is nice if you're in a hurry. Beautiful scenery. Don't forget to spot the hidden waterfall on your left as you come down.

This is a really nice trail. There’s lots of stairs. It’s not a long hike so just about anyone can do it as long as you can climb stairs.

Beautiful hike! Some of the most beautiful hiking in Ohio. This area can be busy but if you start early in the day it's no problem. Great spot for photos!

but lots of stairs, and some places require you to skinny through the rocks. Trekking poles and really good shoes are helpful.

Is it allowed to hike there right now? It appears Hocking Hills is closed, but it looks like one access the falls easily. Does it have a constant water source? Just looking for photo ops,

I believe it all Hocking Hills is closed right now. It maybe opening up in the next few weeks though. I would call the Hocking Hills Park to see when it will be open for sure. It does have a constant water source but it is at the mercy of the weather so it is heavier flow when there has been a lot of rain.

I believe you can bring a dog on the shorter hike in the hollow. But dogs are prohibited on the two & a half mile hike around the rim. It is a bit treacherous in areas.

It's not that deep, maybe you can wade. I can't recall if there was swimming allowed or not. Water is very cold.

Experience very positive. The review as provided noted the + and - parts, and overall, we very much enjoyed our time there, in part because of proximity to multiple short hikes available. Dinner in the dining room (twice) was very nice, and breakfast service was a also good - ordering set plate options. We would go back if ever in the area again. It is not a grand room - the room was on the small side but adequate. If someone wants TV and wi fi in room and all the e-gadgetry, might not be on top of your "go to" list. For the rustic feel of the place, all was good. We sat outside one late afternoon and watched deer a few yards away while noshing on crackers cheese and a nice bottle of white wine purchased in the gift shop.

Yes. There are 2 great apps for this area that tells you all about the trails. Check them out by searching for Hocking.

Is it nessecary to have a map for these trails or are they pretty easy to figure out without one?
Rédigé le 14 juin 2017
There are colored markers along the trail, but sometimes you will hike for a while before seeing a marker. We did not have a map that showed the trail, however, the trail is hiked enough that it is tough to wander off it. Don't be afraid to talk to other hikers along the way if you have questions about the trail. Oncoming hikers can give you hints about the trail already traveled.

The cost to swim @ Hocking State Park Lodge is $3 if I remember correctly. Sorry for delay - just read your question

We are planning to visit Hocking Hills State Park. We are a family of 6 with youngest being a 2 year old and oldest being a 65 year old man. How is the hike from Cedar Falls parking lot to see the falls? Are there a lot of steep stairs? What are other easily accessible spots with least hike ?
Rédigé le 6 avril 2015
I am 73 years old, and easily hiked from the parking lot down to the valley floor and hiked further on an easy, well maintained, fairly flat short hike for a great view of the Falls. The Park Service has done a great job in restoring the paths & bridges in this area of Hocking Hills.
Other easy hiking venues are the crowded Old Man's Cave tourist complex (with several picnic areas) and the valley path in Conkle's Hollow, which is about a mile in length, flat, & paved for about 75% of the way. (The final stretch to the end of the hollow & view of the waterfall up close is not too strenuous but requires a careful navigation & some uneven stretches along the path.)
