This is a place that offers everything in a compact location. You have a candy store, book store, market, beach, seagulls, excellent restaurants - but none of the crowding that you'll find in the more northern cities on the coast. LOVED staying here - but don't tell anyone. Let's keep this beautiful place a secret for the next decade!

Highway 101 runs along the coastline, and in many places there are pull offs where you can get out of your car to get a closer look at the ocean.

A local recommended we take the trail after the Farmer's Market. It's well maintained with a lot of boardwalk.

Gorgeous coastline. Spectacular sunsets. The Oregon coast is simply beautiful. The shore where we were was rocky so you couldn’t walk directly on the beach.

We have traveled all over the U.S. and this is by far the best state to view ocean action and animals!

Excellent walking paths leading to expansive beaches. Beautiful and easily accessible. They meander through tree tunnels and bluffs...easy walks that are paved.

Don’t be stupid trying to get to the edge for photos. Google “drownings near Yachat”. There are sneaker waves along this area.

Not too much development so this place is beautiful. Try several of the overviews and trails. Much to see and hear!

Gorgeous, rugged coastline with lots of waves and sea spray. Be sure to walk out by the water at Smelt Sands Park or other areas with trails.

This little town has a trail along the ocean that is a MUST DO. Our dog loves the water so we had to cut the walk short as dogs must be on leash here and she tried continuously to get down onto the rocks but in the past we have done the entire walk and enjoyed every minute.
Unfortunately, the little waterfront park right near "downtown" has been stripped of all but one picnic table which has a homeless fellow permanently ensconced there so its not a great spot to visit anymore.
Pre-Covid, the joint was always jumpin' here with lots of music and festivals all summer long in the pubs and restaurants. Hard to imagine what the last two summers have been like. For the size of the town, there are some really good restaurants here and we would like to spend a few days here sometime...

Where exactly is this sandy beach of which you speak?

There is an interesting beach just south of “downtown” at the mouth of the Yachats River. Turn right immediately after crossing the bridge, and there is a small parking area and stairs to the beach.
I'm looking for Florence (or nearby) easy access (not wheelchair) access to a sandy beach. I'm taking a friend to the coast and she has difficulty with long walks. I'd like to park and walk to the sand. We'll set up chairs and a cooler and spend the day catching up. I've spent a lot of time in that area but don't know easy access locations. Thanks for your help! Greatly appreciated.

Yachats has a small park on the south side of town with a nice sandy beach where the river flows into the ocean. There is a small staircase that leads down to the sandy area and when the tide is out, there is a lot of level sand to walk on. There is a small toilet building there also.

The Oregon Coast is not the wine country. You need to go inland,
