We have been going to Fraisthorpe for years, pre the Cowshed days, when there was just the hut collecting the parking fee. Even if there was no one there to collect the fee, we always left the cash in the box outside the hut. Unfortunately there were a lot of people who just parked up and left without paying anything., hence the introduction of the automated parking system. Personally, I have never had any problems with the machines. If I can do it at 80, I am sure the do called tech savvy generations can manage it.
The beach at low tide is clean and large with the sprinkling of WW2 fortifications and Pillboxes. Excellent space for dogs of all sizes.
Since the Cowshed opened it has gone from strength to strength. Whatever they are doing it is working

What I liked most : a large beach, that takes ages to get to deep water..perfect for a paddle. It was also unspoilt views. Parking was inexpensive.

What I didn't like : it was a long drive to the beach itself, purely because the road is very narrow so you have to keep stopping to let each other passed. Parking was on quite bumpy terrain, not ideal for the car and also we got out to a feet full of nettles.

There are also no shops or stalls nearby other than the cowshed. This also houses the only toilets from what I could see so means you've got a bit of a trek from the beach.

Wow! What a beautiful hidden gem. We came last year for the day with the kids and dog and had a lovely time. So accessible when taking everything you need for kids and a dog.
We came back on Thursday to stay the evening in our camper van, there’s 10 pitches to stay, good spacing, not greedy owner which made it a very comfortable stay, we ended up staying another 2 nights. We’ve had such a lovely time. The caravan site area is immaculate and very well maintained with good respectable people. Was a very pleasurable relaxing stay. Will definitely return. We just don’t want to go home.
Toilets on site and a lovely little cafe. Beautiful beach and to say it’s dog friendly it’s immaculate.
Water and electric hook up for over night stays and a fair price. So glad we found this place

Fraisthorpe beach is brilliant, even though dogs are allowed because the tide goes really far out there is lots of free space. Farmer runs excellent parking and a great cafe, will be back.
Love the Sand Martins in the cliffs too, Really not bothered by the visitors flying in and out. No Amusement arcades another bonus.

Used to be one of my favourite spots. However, I will not be going there again and will look for alternatives because of a car park.
I remember this beach long before someone has spotted the commercial opportunity and decided to make money out of people who are simply trying to enjoy the nature. What a shame someone desided and was allowed to make the business out of it and the place is no longer the same.
There are no facilities as such, so no costs at maintaining the beach (other than the car Park operator), so why should people pay? I don't count the restaurant with toilet made out of cow shed as in my opinion it is a separate business.
The only reason I used to go there quite often was because I lost my leg due to cancer recently and I could park my car close to the beach. I could manage to go there on crutches on my own without relying on anyone and even take my 4 year old with me. The cancer diagnosis was followed by a divorce, then a house sale… I was awaiting life depending scan results, nearly lost my job and to make matters even worse I was hit by the war news in Ukraine where all of my family are.
All these happened is such a short period of time and I nearly lost my sanity but I turned to nature to calm my thoughts and help me pull through all this. However, I received the fine for not paying the parking charges at Fraisthorpe beach whereas I clearly remember paying the fee. I was in the state if shock as it was only 3 days after the war has started and having sent the proof of pay from my card I got a response that I entered a wrong car registration number, which was the previous car I sold not long ago as I could no longer drive it following the leg amputation. I wrote a letter explaining my situation, but only got a response that it is clearly stated on the car parking rules board people should enter a correct registration number thus I should still pay the fine. Disgrace I say! Shame on you! I paid the fine but you should know the money earned this way will not get you (the car park owner) any joy I am sure of it!

Nice beach but disgusting parking management, only stopped for 15 mins to look at beach at 5.45pm and been sent in post £60 fine. No need for that in these difficult times. Stay local for holidays they say, with this treatment...

Beach is great, parking is a joke. paid for parking, received a ticket receipt which was placed on my dashboard. 4 weeks later received a fine for £100! Didn’t keep the ticket that long and couldnt prove that I had paid from bank statement. Parking operators machines are dodgy so make sure you take a picture of your ticket just in case. Completely taints what was always a great family experience.

Car park rip off - so many people complaining about getting caught out with the parking system, it really is an absolute money making racket.
Avoid at all costs, you have been warned

Avoid this beach and all others like it that employ cowboy car park operators who use bullying tactics of highly dubious legal ethics to prey on unsuspecting drivers. There are plenty equally lovely beaches up and down the Yorkshire coast that make for a more pleasant day out. Also avoid if you're not a dog lover.
