We love the Hobby Center and have seen quite a few shows here. The lobby is beautiful with large floor to ceiling windows that look out over downtown and city hall. There's a convenient parking garage attached to the building, but you need to arrive early if you want to use it because it fills up. If it's full when you arrive, there's another parking garage on Rusk that's in walking distance; we paid $15 to park. If you bring a purse, you'll need to go through a bag check once you're inside the theater. For this performance, we saw The Lion King and loved it, maybe the best show we've ever seen here. The opening where huge animals like giraffes and elephants come walking down the aisles is impressive. This performance was in the larger Sarofim Hall, and it's the perfect setting for a big show like this. If it's in your budget, I recommend purchasing seats on the Orchestra level. The only seats I could get were advertised as having an obstructed view, but it didn't bother us, just the very right side of the stage was obscured. Most people were dressed in business casual attire. The story was touching, costumes and sets were amazing, the acting was impressive. Beautiful music. We went to use the restroom at intermission - there are so many stalls for the ladies that you don't even need to wait in line. Soft drinks and alcoholic drinks, as well as snacks were available for purchase. There are cup holders inside the theater so you can bring your drink inside with you. Everything ran like a well oiled machine. Big standing ovation at the end for this impressive performance. We definitely look forward to coming back and enjoying more shows at this theater. At some point, take the time to look up at the ceiling where they have over 2,000 fiber optic "stars" embedded, an homage to their name Theater Under the Stars.

We came to see the premiere of The Ugly Christmas Sweater Musical at the Hobby Center and enjoyed it immensely. The performance was in Zilkha Hall, the smaller, more intimate theater at the Hobby Center. Audience members wore their best ugly Christmas sweaters, and the environment was much more relaxed and casual than performances we've seen in the bigger theater. Lots of laughs and fun audience participation with singing Christmas carols and audience members being invited up on stage to walk the catwalk. Somehow they even made it snow inside the theater. The actors were masters of improv, and we laughed non-stop. I'm hoping they bring this show back; it would make a fun family tradition to attend year after year. There's a parking garage you can use attached to the Hobby Center; drinks and snacks were available for purchase in the lobby. The only thing we missed was that they didn't provide us with programs; show info. was only available via QR code. Overall we were really impressed and would love to come back and see another show.

This is a good theatre, the staff are very friendly and the seats comfortable. We have seen a few good shows here. The drink prices tend to be on the high side but I think that is everywhere nowadays. Expect queues after the show if you valet park.

Wow beautiful modern theatre with a restaurant alongside of it. It was very easy to get around and intimate setting for plays and shows. We loved watching Frozen here while we were in town visiting family!

Has a good time at the theatre watching Frozen the broadway play. My only complaint was that it was a bit warm inside, I know it’s middle of summer but perhaps they could higher the Air conditioning.

We enjoyed the Houston Symphony performance, we did NOT enjoy getting seriously gouged on food and drink prices. SIXTY bucks for a puny chicken sandwich, some fruit, chips, 4 oz. glass of wine and a very stingy serving of bourbon. That was at the snack bar. Dinner at the restaurant on site, Diana America Grill, is very expensive. Budget $100 minimum per person
The next issue are the very poor seating sightlines. Pray you don't get stuck behind a slightly taller person. We had to change seats
Parking is $15 bucks, expect to drive to the roof because the $25 valet parking occupies all the lower spaces.
Won't be going back anytime soon

The show was great.. Houston Symphony Led Zeppelin Show. The facilty was horrible. Basically the seats are very small and too close. If you are over 5ft 6in tall and over 170 Lbs. you will be uncomfortable. Who designed the seats? A major FAIL! I am 6ft, 215 Lbs and had to sit with my arms crossed for the entire concert and still touched my neighbor. Very poor seating.

This is a good venue and the seats are very comfortable. I have always found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Seat prices can be a tad steep sometimes but that's just supply and demand. There is valet parking available, alternatively there are numerous car parks nearby.
I found the prices for drinks very expensive, $13 for a small glass of wine, my suggestion would be to go somewhere else beforehand and save yourself a few dollars.

Parking here is right on site. Good food before the show. Get here a little early to sit down. Good bathroom situation. There is actual time and enough of them to go during intermission. Venue is a nice size. The show can be big, but you don't feel far away even if you are in the last seat.

Buying tickets to see Lion King. What are the best seating areas without "breaking the bank"? I've seen it previously in Vegas but want to take my 15 year old son, who's not exactly excited, but I know he will be pleasantly surprised when we see it.

Tickets in the Mezzanine are reasonably priced and still provide a great show experience. Take your binoculars to see the costume and set details.

I didn't notice that the seats were removable. The seats aren't very comfortable but thank goodness for intermission. 😁

How many stairs must you go up/down to reach Row A of the Mezzanine Level at Sarofim Hall? Is it possible to avoid the stairs leading down from the back of the Mezzanine?
