We hiked this in a counter clockwise direction so the Arch was a reward at the end of the hike. There was also a root cellar nearby,

We arrived at an unfortunate time when there was a low pressure area stuck in Newfoundland and so the rain was continuous. As a result, the trail is flooded and muddy if lucky to have no standing water on surface. Sloped section of the trail turn to little springs, so it was hard to navigate through. It was so bad that people have made trails from stomping on vegetation.

Unfortunately, some seniors who hiked the trail to see the iceberg at Jones Cove (a fork to the right of the main trail) did not have the proper footwear to traverse the waterlogged and muddy trail.

Regardless, the view was worth it at the end though.

Really enjoyed the Trail. Unfortunately, never had time for complete Trail but walked out to the arch. Beautiful scenery.

I am an avid hiker and found this trail difficult. It was well worth it though! Loved the natural arch, the abandoned community and the views were spectacular. It started to pour about half way through but we didn't let that damped our experience. Would definitely recommend this trail to the able bodied people.

The abandoned town and arch are cool to see, and the rocky beach at the other end of the trail is lovely, but the trail between the two just goes out along the cliff and comes back in, and was very challenging at times climbing up, over and down rocks. Not a moderate hike. I recommend going in as far to check out the arch or the beach (probably only a 10 minute walk to get to - go to the left for the arch, to the right for the beach (they are at opposite ends of the loop). The abandoned town area would be a lovely spot for a picnic but if you are interested in a scenic hike there are much nicer coastline trails in NL, I would only do this one if you had the time.

Great walk with a lot of varying terrain - you start on a rough road which takes you to the old settlement, go through woods, over rocks, across hillsides, over rocky beaches and finally back on to the rough road. The path is easy to follow, we did the full trail and turned it into an all day hike. There are great views throughout, the coastline is stunning, you certainly won't be bored,

We did not consult trip advisor prior to this hike and instead relied on the local map provided at our b&b stating this was a 4.8 km easy to moderate walk. Well, I think it was moderate to difficult due to boggy patches, lots of climbing and a 50 m beach rock scramble. We took on this hike in a clockwise direction so Jones Bay was near the end. Lovely 360 degree views from the top including several icebergs and the whole thing including an extra side trip in Little Harbour at the beginning took us just over 2.5 hours. Hiking boots a must!

Surprisingly there were very visitors on the afternoon we visited. Met a couple as we were entering and had a nice chat and then met another couple as we were leaving. Lots of rocks prevented me from climbing down to see the arch as I developed some hip problems. But hubby managed to get some great photos of the arch and we both enjoyed the delightful view!

It's a looped trail, which I prefer. We decided to save the arch for last and I would suggest that as the views get better starting that way. If you start with the arch you end a little more inland. Nice hike; not too challenging. I really liked being able to get to the arch. If you have good shoes, it's not wet, and you're careful on the rocks, it's possible to go below the arch.
