I had only rarely even driven through Inman Park, despite having lived in the Atlanta area for quite a while. After learning a bit about its history as Atlanta's first planned subdivision, and being interested in some of the architecture, I wanted to take a walking tour of the area. Of course, times being as they are, no professional guided walks are currently offered. However, you can still check out a map of the area, plan a loop route, and take a ~ 2-mile stroll around.
We parked across Edgewood Avenue from The Trolley Barn. This originally functioned as its name implies, but is now an event facility. There was plenty of street parking. We started by walking over and down the old stone stairs into Springvale Park. This is fairly central to the neighborhood, and sports a new playground and an old pond. It is bordered by a wide variety of homes and apartments.
We next circled back to Euclid Avenue and followed that in the direction of Little Five Points. There were a number of nice older homes along this stretch, many from the Victorian period. Some have been completely renovated, but others are in need of it. A lot of the homes have fairly overgrown plants in the yards, probably due to the age of the landscaping. Once we reached the spur of Freedom Park, we cut left down the hill along the bike / walking path. This also featured a couple of homeless tents/carts, which were a big contrast to some of the homes.
We then turned left again down Austin Avenue, which becomes Lake Avenue. The homes tend to get a bit more modest along here; some are quite nice, but all were smaller than some of the more mansion-style places on Euclid or Edgewood. We passed through a small business district / intersection and proceeded past more homes. Many in this section were more renovated, but the sidewalks in this part were mostly in very bad shape. Signs noted that, in spots, the homeowner + some community business were in the process of fixing the sidewalk. These were made of bricks or paving stones and had been completely jumbled by 100+ years of tree roots. Watch your step!
We cut back on Ashland Avenue to Ashland Drive to Druid Circle. This part of the walk was more hilly and also somewhat less shady. The houses started getting grander again as well. We rejoined Euclid, took a slight turn onto Edgewood again, and worked our way back to where we had parked.
If you like architecture or history, this can be a pleasant walk. You could expand it a bit on either end to take in Little Five Points or Krog Street Market, if you liked. I'm glad that I made time to explore here.

There is so much history in and around Inman Park - The Battle of Atlanta, Coca Cola Moguls, The beautiful Twin Houses (Dames) and more. Everything is well preserved and people have worked to keep up their homes. Make sure you have a good tour on line before you go, so you really learn about the history. Look for the little holding cell near the park. You'll be amazed that humans were put in there. Enjoy!

Right on the Marta, ice with great green space to walk and enjoy a glorious autumn day. Fun to people watch and you see lots of families, couples, and dogs. This has a hometown feel with restaurants and daily life in view. The Coca Cola Mansion is here and many other homes have been preserved. If you see a butterfly sign on the porch, the home has been restored. Lovely, historic neighborhood!

This tour was excellent! The food was delicious and abundant. The tastings were nice servings at each restaurant. Out tour guide, Michael, was phenomenal. He was engaging, informative, enthusiastic and entertaining. The walking tour was really interesting. A great way to spend an afternoon and see a section of Atlanta. I have a few annoying food allergies that were accommodated. Highly recommend this tour!

We go to the Inman Park festival each spring however we also take day trips up just to walk the lovely streets and see the beautiful homes as well as spend time in the park just sitting and enjoying the view. You're just a couple of blocks from Little 5 Points as well as Krog street market and all the wonderful eateries and places to shop. Inman has some of the most architecturally and historically fabulous homes in Atl. Go for a day or if you can swing it, buy a home and live there. It's beautiful and diverse, it's one of my favorite neighborhoods in Atl.

Visiting a friend who lives in Inman Park. Inman Park is a very hip section of Atlanta, close to downtown. Great restaurants, and located close to the Belt line, which is great for walking and people watching.

This is an upscale neighborhood in Atlanta with lots of Victorian style homes. There are numerous restaurants to try offering all sorts of food. The Krog Street Market is located in this area too, as well as the Beltline. Nice area to explore.

We’ve driven through this neighborhood many times, as well as having gone to restaurants and shops here over the years. We went out to eat in Inman Park today and I was struck by how beautiful all of blooming trees and shrubs made the neighborhood! There are many Arts & Crafts style bungalows, many of which have been fixed up as well as small neighborhood shops. But the highlight today were the dogwoods, redbuds, azaleas, and two gigantic snowball bushes! What an enjoyable visit!

Inman Park is a very historic neighborhood near downtown Atlanta. The homes are gorgeous! Their festival in late April is fantastic and the parade is not to be missed (Saturday afternoon)...very funky!
The proximity to the Beltline is also a great advantage of Inman Park. Recently, quite a lot of development has occurred in Inman Park. Bars, restaurants, shops, condos, & apartments...too numerous to count. It's very convenient for many people; however, this development certainly changes the overall feeling of the neighborhood.

Hello Inman Park lovers! I'm a local Atlanta artist researching Inman Park for an installation art project. Please share what you love most about the Inman Park neighborhood, special experiences, history that I won't find online, personal stories, etc. I'll be capturing the essence of Inman Park in my unique painting style to hang alongside 19 other local artists' works in September 2021. Thank you in advance and I'll post the most poignant comments on my social media as the art piece comes together.
