This place had rave reviews but we didn't see why. Interesting but not much there and had to pay to get in. Wife quite disappointed.

A very worthwhile visit to pay tribute to the amazing women who have been leaders in many fields.
The docents are wonderful, full of information and happy to share.
A small curated gift shop has some interesting items too.
Bring your children and grandchildren here!

This was a progress in the making. It was free to enter which was a surprise. Whenever they are able to complete the museum, if I can ever visit again, I would like to see it then. The outside is quiet impressive.

I went here with a couple friends. I didn't realize there was no admission fee. They do take donations and I did leave some money.
Parking is in front and free. They are now in their new location, the former Mill, on the Seneca Canal.
Only the lower, entry, level is finished. No access to upper floor.
They have plenty to see that brings you in touch with the feminist history of this country and town.
Don't miss the chance to see their changing displays.
They have restrooms and a gift shop.

I recommend going because it's important to support the work they are doing there. Using the old woolens mill is a great way to showcase women's history and although there's not much to see right now, I believe that once it is done, it will be a fabulous museum. Even though there is just the first floor to see, it still had interesting things to read about women in history and the history of Seneca Falls as the birthplace of women's rights

My partner and I were very eager to visit the National Women's Hall of Fame during a recent visit to Seneca Falls, but were greatly disappointed by the exhibits and what we learned were the museum's plans for the future. Virtually all of the exhibits were storyboards that were not particularly engaging. The display of sheets of paper with names of inductees was not in any way what we expected. There were neither pictures nor any artifacts from the lives of the 293 women so far honored. There was no information about how they were selected or how their lives had made a difference. There was no use of the 21st century technology for audio-visuals. The current storyboards reminded me of the type of displays one finds at an airport to describe a local attraction to visitors. I understand there are plans for a better exhibit and I strongly urge you to redo the ground floor NOW and not wait for some future date when you hope to expand to upper floors. This would be a far better use of the first floor space which is currently wasted on storyboards about the history of the building and plans for the future, with precious little about the women in the hall of fame.

Adding to our disappointment was the removal of the legacy plaques that the Women's Hall of Fame once displayed. Twenty years ago, my partner's family made a contribution to the museum to recognize the matriarch of the family -- a woman who selflessly devoted her life to uplifting young girls and women in China and in New Jersey -- with a legacy placque to be displayed in the museum. We learned that the placques would no longer be displayed, but that information about the women so honored by their families and the museum could be accessed on the Internet via a small iPad in the museum. In our opinion, this was not an acceptable alternative and violates the original agreement between the museum and the donors who sought to honor the memories of unsung women. Indeed, the only way we learned about the hundreds of women whose legacies are also honored by the Hall of Fame was our insistence that we see the details on the iPad. There was no sign indicating that the iPad was there for this purpose nor any information about the legacy women.

Upon leaving, we could not help but notice that the gift shop included a bobblehead doll of Hillary Clinton, one of inductees honored by the museum. I do not think that Elizabeth Cady Stanton would be amused.

The National Women's Hall of Fame continues to grow and I'm glad I stopped by to see. Only the first floor was open and work is being done to complete and open a second floor. Funding is very much needed and we put money in their donation box.

If I was organizing a fund raising effort, I would start with contacting all the living members on the Hall of Fame and then the estates of those past. They have already been nominated and approved so there is no conflict of interest. Imagine what $5,000 or $10,000 from each of them would do to make a huge difference. The battle for women's right continues to this very day.

We pulled up, and thought we were at the wrong place. No signs. No open doors. No sense that it was a museum/hall of fame. After finding the National Historic Park closed, we returned to poke around more and there was now a sign. We asked when we entered--no, they just put it out (they had been open for hours!). A very talkative man guided us to the list of names, and told us how women have been written out of history (yeah, we know). We read every inch on display, took about 20 minutes. I understand they are in progress--and there is a ton of potential. But it was underwhelming.

Certainly experected much more than a few exhibits. If you read every owrd on the exhibits you can be out in 30 minutes. Disappointing. Best thing is that it is an a wonderful old knitting mill.

This is a privately run museum and requires paid timed entry.
We read the reviews and decided to visit this museum with paid timed entry tickets.
They have moved to this building some months back and perhaps exhibits are not set up.
The exhibit is 1/2 floor of the large building, main part of it is list of inductees since 1973. Some of the inductees are famous but most were not well known. There was not even a paragraph explaining reason for induction.
There was a tablet at one end where one person could view youtube videos of previous years induction. You could watch this at home without paying for timed entry.
It would have been helpful to have a large TV screen running the videos instead of a small tablet that can be accessed by only one person at time.
There is a wonderful comprehensive Women's Rights National Historic museum just a few blocks away. It is free and run by NPS.

We are sad to hear your time with us was not what you had expected. With us moving out of the old historic bank on Falls St and onto the 1st floor of the historic Seneca Knitting Mill, we have doubled our gallery size. We have also expanded our exhibits topics and discussions. One of our goals in this space is to expand our dialog and discussions. Our Inductees are the center of our mission and goal, but we also need to talk about the Mill and its history, Seneca Falls and its history, and our patrons and their history. We are a repository for our Inductees and their stories as well as starting though provoking discussions to inspire and impact others to learn more about the less well known women who have done extraordinary things in their life. These women can only be recognized if others starts celebrating and talking about their accomplishments. The National Women's Hall of Fame is that organization. Thank you for bringing up that we do not have more about Induction in the gallery space. This will be brought to the exhibits committee. The iPads are designed for guests to search the Inductees, the women included in the Books of Lives and Legacies, and watch past Inductions. Once we expand, there will be more interactive and larger screens throughout the gallery. We thank you for visiting the National Women's Hall of Fame. With us being a not-for-profit organization, every admission helps us reach our goals. We hope to see you again soon!
