On our way to Tomam after sightseeing in Biei and Furano, we stayed overnight at the Shin Furano Prince Hotel. Furano is also famous as a location for the drama "From the Northern Country". The hotel grounds are dotted with facilities based on Mr. So Kuramoto's idea of creation, such as Ningle Terrace, Soh's BAR, Coffee: Forest Clock and Wind Garden. The idea of "creation" is the "interest and joy of creating with one's own wisdom" forgotten in modern civilized society.
Neither I nor my wife were interested in his work, but after checking in, we took a break and strolled through the illuminated Ningle Terrace. "Ningle" is said to be a 15 cm tall "wisdom of the forest" who has lived in the forests of Hokkaido for a long time in his book Ningle. In each of the 15 themed log houses, craftsmen respect the Ningle spirit and sell handicrafts that can only be found here, with the theme of "creating" with their wisdom rather than simply "making". In addition to unilateral sales, there are also workshops where customers can participate and create directly. Wood carvings based on the nature of Furano and handmade leather goods and accessories seem to be popular among women. By the time I visited after 7 p.m., it was already closed, but on a one-year fixed-term building lease, each Owner is competing to run it. I think all the stores that remain today are of high quality.

So the place is probably better in winter with the snow. We went in May and there weren’t really many people there and most shops were closed. It just lost the feel

Postcard picture perfect. Except for the cold weather, it was a sight to behold. Houses with snow on rooftops, illuminated against the night sky, something rare for us to experience coming from a tropical country

A very beautiful place to visit in the evening. The BEST time to visit is about 4.30 to 5.30pm. This is the time when the daylight is getting dim, the place is lighted up.
Most of the visitors come to take pictures in this little village.
If you are not coming here on coach, you have to drive here.
Public transport in Sapporo to such places is rarely existent.

There are 15 log houses standing in the forest. All of them sell cute accessories, so it's a great spot for people who like small items, accessories, and fairy tales. You can kill two birds with one stone by shopping and enjoying forest bathing. For those who are not interested (such as a group of only men), it may be a boring space.

If this was a part of your "Furano Tour" package, here's what to expect: souvenir shops in a forest. It was the last part of our Furano Tourist package, and by this time, I was expecting another fake tourist trap, but this one was special! This was a man made wooded housing structure of about 20, right outside of a hotel, only selling souvenirs. Now, in the pictures, it looks cool at night. In the daytime, it doesn't.

北の国からで竹下景子がやってた
手芸店のログハウスかな？
そんな感じの小さなログハウスが
森の中に点在しています。
可愛らしいログハウスで、
４.5人も入れば満員御礼。
ハウスの店主さんの作品が
売られています。
作家さんの作品だから
ちょっとお値段が張る商品や、
お手頃な作品まで色々あって、
見て回るのは楽しいです。
全店開いてるわけではなく、、、
時間は12時からです。

More than half of the shops being closed. Hopefully they are actually open in the weekend as was there on a Thursday. Even the fun playground was closed too. Not worth to make the effort for visit unless you are a hotel guests of the Prince Hotel right next door.

Ningle Terrace is an obligatory tourist stop in Furano and bus loads appear every evening when dusk falls. It is beautiful and insta-worthy, if that's your thing, and there are many slaves to the ‘Gram hard at work throughout the picturesque location.
Ningle Terrace is primarily home to numerous craft / artisan shops with delicately handcrafted items, but many of them were already closed when we visited just before 5pm. I'm guessing this may be a measure to protect the products from being damaged by the hordes of tourists trampling about looking for their ideal shot.
I was put off by the crowds milling about incessantly taking selfies and hunting for that ideal Insta shot. The location certainly benefits those with narcissistic tendencies - the vast array of poses and faraway vacant looks were mind boggling!

In answer to the prompt ? Maybe be open at the posted times. My wife really wanted to see this place, while I liked another option in the area with snowmobiles and other snow play. But you know "happy wife happy life", so we took the train from Asahikawa, 1.5 hours one way, caught a taxi at the station, the fare is doubled in the winter 2400 Yen vs. 1200 in summer. When we arrive the place is dead, one shop open in the cabins and nothing else. The other attractions should open at 1230 but a small hand written sign saying not until 1600, not wanting to wait for 3 hours looked for a taxi back to the station and none to be found. I asked about return taxi at tourist center and they said no problem plenty there. There was one Taxi but was a reserved one just waiting around, she was so kind and called the company we came with, not hers by the way. So to sum up a complete waste of a day.

Understand there is a bus from Furano Railway Station, the car fee is 260 Yen / person to Ningle Terrace? please confirm and where is the actual location ? any spefic bustop ? can we pay cask instead ? how much ?please help

We did not take the train. For this one, I booked a tour with Klook. We met at a hotel near our hotel, we rode in a van which took us supposedly to a snow park, but because snow was falling hard, the expressway was closed. Then we went to the zoo, because of road conditions, we arrived late, less than an hour from closing time. Then we were taken to certain picture spots before ningle terrace. After ningle terrace, we were brought back to the meet up point.

Yes it should open unless the weather broadcast says otherwise, but it is good to check their website as the day gets nearer or you can also contact the hotel you are staying for more update as their services are always tip top. Enjoy.
