We had a wonderful time at our family wedding in Balls Falls on Morhers Day weekend. The wedding venue was fabulous! We stayed at the Ramada hotel and they are under construction so would recommend another hotel. The restaurant was closed also so cannot comment on the food. The area is so beautiful, you can find all sorts of fabulous sightseeing tours. Plan on spending a few days because there is a lot to see. Very handy to the Toronto airports, Niagara Falls, Niagara on the Lake and other attraction. We would go back again and stay longer! Great vacation area!

It is insane that a park will charge almost $30 just to park.
There are much better parks to visit that are 100% free.

Balls Falls is a beautiful park. As we travelled on a unseasonably warm day in December there was no snow but it was fantastic and there was lots of water going over the falls. The trails were not too muddy and the walk along the river and in the woods was beautiful with all the green moss on the rocks and the reddish oak leaves underfoot. We pretty well had the place to ourselves. We walked out to the upper falls first and then made our way down to the lower falls and the historic village. The village was decorated for Christmas and they lots of Christmas lights. There is a lighted walk in the evening around Christmas time. They also have a skating rink and you can rent skates at the visitor center and you can also purchase s’more kits as well. We continued on our walk and you can pick up the Bruce Trail from there. It’s definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

This is one of the good falls (if not considering Niagara falls...). There are 2 falls around this area... upper and lower. Lower falls, you can view just from the viewing area. When it comes to upper falls, there is some excitement... you can go to bottom of the falls as well as the top fo the falls where you can enjoy the falls from the top as well and you can enter water on top and bottom of the falls. So, there will be some excitement.

Too bad they have to charge for this. It’s a well maintained trail system with some historical buildings that provide a history of the site, a former mill and working farm. Visiting in August means that there are no falls, but come for the nice walk in the woods. Go to both Upper and Lower falls, not for the water but for the scenery and the peacefulness. Then go wine tasting or see the cute town of Lincoln.

A little disappointed with Ball’s Falls this afternoon. Guess I was expecting a bigger waterfall with all the rain we’ve had. My husband used to go there in his teenage years and they would jump off the falls and swim there. Can’t do anything like that any more. Too many rocks and not enough water. $7 per person to get in, used to be free. Not much to do, just walk around and take a couple of pictures.

Lovely place for a hike, but be warned, there are steep and rocky parts in this trail. It's not backbreakingly hard, but not for everyone, that's all!

Ball's Falls Conservation Area Hiking and enjoying the waterfalls.

There were many people, hiking or walking.

On one side they went to the other side to see the waterfalls.

Most of the people walked or hiked and stayed.

The one we hiked was great to see the waterfalls.

A must see!

Return with me now to the days of yesteryear when people in a small working hamlet lived contentedly. John Ball got things underway in the early 1800's with a grist mill beside Twenty Mile Creek and where two waterfalls plummet down the Niagara Escarpment. This is the best time of the year to visit to see the raging torrents, the lower cataract at 81 feet being the top attraction in the area. You might even witness a thundering phalanx of motorcycle buffs roaring through the village, followed by a trumpeteer bugling out trumpet melodies by the church. At the end of your personal tour, you can sit musingly by the waters before they plunge downward. Oh, lest I forget, it's a marvelous place for hiking, bird-watching and picnicking. All in all, Ball's Falls is magically restorative and has something for everyone.

-5 C, sunny & not even a breeze while we visited Ball’s Falls Conservation & Historical Area. Had another great hike on fresh snow & the very few footprints told us that we were almost alone.

The route took us along the top trail to the Upper Falls outlook where the mill once stood. The only evidence of a mill being there was a door through the brick wall leading down to the creek. The falls were almost total iced with only a small portion of the actual falling water being in the open.

We took the lower route along the creek through the historical area to the lower falls. Again, the build-up of ice at the falls was quite picturesque and this time we could see and hear the falling water.

Another area that we would recommend for a hike. The trails took us through the woods and occasionally the trails were steep but quite manageable.
