One on my favs at Muonio. Choose a clear warm day and good hiking shoes (not sneekers), water and enough lunch/snacks to enjoy this hike. The landscape on the summit is amazing but it's usually very windy up there so take your windstopper clothing with you in case (autumn especially). On summer time lots of ants going around lower path. Do not stop in one place for long time. In August blueberries all over the forest.
The trail start: park your car in the backyard of Tunturikeimiö and go left from the building to find the path.. it goes first on the left in the pine tree forest. After a while you'll arrive to a wooden reindeer fench. Just go through it (by lifting some parts of fench poles aside..and remember to put them back as well) and continue a wide path down and in a while it turns up...a partly rocky and steep trail.
The views get better and better when you go up. When you get above the trees the landscape opens up. Go around and enjoy. Lotsbof nice spots sitting on the rocks and have lunch.
Note: there are 2 peaks - the lower peak is about 1 km away if you want to hike there as well.
You can continue your hike to Sammaltunturi and from there to Lommoltunturi - this trail is located to Northern side of summit stones. Have fun!

steiler Anstieg - toller Blick auf die Weiten Lapplands. Auf der einen Seite der große Jerisjärvi und auf der anderen Seite die Fjells des Ylläs-Pallas-Nationalparks.

Hieman syrjässä Pallaksen valtareiteiltä. Polkua ei juurikaan ole merkattu mutta kun sen löytää ei ole eksymisen mahdollisuutta: suoraan ylös. Polku lähtee Keimiön majan takaa.

Polku tunturiin lähtee suoraan Tunturikeimiön majan pihasta. Kiipesin tunturiin lumikengillä helmikuussa 20. Nousu oli suht raskas, mutta näkymät aivan huikeat. Tunturi näyttäisi olevan myös esimerkiksi vapaalaskijoiden suosiossa. Keimiötunturin takana olevalla Sammaltunturilla on mitattu maailman puhtain (urbaani) ilma ja sen myös huomaa. Jos kaipaat raikasta ilmaa ja hiljaisuutta, tämä on oiva kohde.

Po pierwsze: nie jest oczywiste jak tu trafić i gdzie rozpocząć wędrówkę. Tak więc jadąc szosą Kittila - Muonio (droga nr 79) skręcamy w drogę nr 9572 (wzdłuż jeziora Jerisjarvi). Początek szlaku znajduje się przy drugim dużym parkingu po prawej stronie. Oznacza go czarny drogowskaz wskazujący schronisko Tunturikeimio. Ruszamy spod schroniska ścieżką przez las, która nie jest oznakowana ale trudno ją zgubić. Po krótkiej wędrówce docieramy do granicy Parku Narodowego. Potem ścieżka coraz ostrzej pnie się w górę. Na chwilę jest trochę równiej gdy wychodzimy z tundry ale ostatni, odsłonięty odcinek znów trochę ostrzej prowadzi pod górę. Czas przejścia spokojnym tempem to: w górę 60-70 minut, na dół 45 minut. Reszta to czas pobytu na górze. Tu ostrzegam: widok jest tak piękny, że nie chce się schodzić. My utknęliśmy na godzinę ale kolejne dwie grupy, które przyszły po nas też się nigdzie nie wybierały, a okrzyk jednej z turystek: "och, my God" oddaje wszystko. Keimiotunturi to samotne wzgórze z którego rozciąga się niezwykła panorama. W każdą stronę, po horyzont (jak sądzę w promieniu co najmniej 20 km) widać wzgórza, lasy i jeziora. Niemal nietknięta ludzką ręką przyroda, świat taki jaki został nam dany, a który prawie wszędzie już zniszczyliśmy. Tu możemy go jeszcze podziwiać, zachwycać się czasem i miejscem, cieszyć się że jest Arktyka. Niech trwa tak jak najdłużej. Jej piękno i pierwotny charakter ma dla mnie w sobie coś mistycznego. Niezwykłe widoki, niezwykłe miejsce, niezwykłe odczucia.

Olipa mahtava kokemus kiivetä syksyiselle tunturille. Näkymät ovat huikeat ja ovat vaivan arvoiset. Nousu on aika rankaa hetkittäin, aikaa kuluu noin 1-2 h. Eväät ja kamera matkaan ja ylös tunturiin hop hop :)

They weren't kidding when they said it was steep! But the view was definitely worth it! Took us bit less than two hours to go up and down again, including a short geocaching stop ;) it was very beautiful with a bit of snow already at the top.

Keimiötunturi Fell is one of the best lookout points in Lapland and it is suitable for families, too. It is situated off the beaten path and there aren't too many people there. However, it is accessible quite easily.
You can drive a car or take a bus (e.g. from Rovaniemi) to hotel & cottages Tunturikeimiö (aka Keimiötunturin Maja). The hiking trail starts from the courtyard of Tunturikeimiö (100 meters from the Lapp hut and then to the left). It is 2.6 kilometers from the courtyard to the peak of Keimiötunturi Fell. The path is very steep. So it takes time to hike there. However, otherwise the trail is quite easy (no rocks etc.). Take a tour on the peak and then come back the same trail. The recommendable time is 2-3 hours. The scenery is very beautiful even if you don't reach the peak.
Notice that there aren't any services in the area. There are toilets, a cafeteria and a souvenir shop in Tunturikeimiö - if it is open. You can always visit Keimiötunturi Fell (24/7) and it is free. It is situated only 3 kilometers from the historical Keimioniemi Fishing Cabins. So it is a good idea to visit both of them in the same way.
The view from the peak of Keimiötunturi Fell is extremely beautiful. The fell is situated 614 meters above sea level and 350 meters above Lake Jerisjärvi. This is one of my favorite places in Lapland.
