Our first time coming to hardwick park, such a beautiful place.
Got to admit though, I was more excited to find the gruffalo than the kids. Then we found the Mother-in-law (the Dragon) lol.
The oldest child wants to come back in winter 🤷♀️
The middle child wants to be back every day.
The youngest child who’s neuro diverse said “it’s absolutely amazing I can burn of lots of my HDHD energy here” (obviously means ADHD - he’s only 6)
We’re defo coming back for a full day with a picnic and a football. £3.50 for all day parking, absolute bargain that!!
Can’t wait for another day of adventure & imaginative play.
P.s - if you ever remove the gruffalo, please can he come to my house? 😂

Normally visit hardwick park quite regular, today was the first time my visit ended with a trip to the cafe for lunch for my 2 children, for context I have a 3yr old and am 8month old, the queue was huge and wait was a very long time to be served, when I eventually did get served I was pushing a pram the serving staff gave me a hot latte on a tray and then left me to it, so i had to take my infant son in his pram to the table I had acquired outside leave him unattended to come back in to get my tray. No offer of help from staff to assist, it doesn't take much to offer common courtesy, I was a woman on my own with my 2 young children the serving staff even asked where I was sitting. Very disappointed after I have visited this park regularly as my 3yr old loves to see the ducks and geese.

Expensive Parking just to walk the dog. It seems the local council has gotten greedy.
Beautiful location though in all weathers.

Im pleased to hear you enjoy visiting the park. Our car parking charges did increase earlier this year after almost 10 years since they were first introduced. Income from our car parking charges goes directly to help maintain and improve the park for our visitors. If you a regular visitor, please be aware we also offer annual permits for £95 which equates to only 26p per day, offering a huge saving compared to our pay and display charges. These can be purchased from our cafe or gift shop during normal opening hours.

lovely place - shame about the carparking fees - gone up - not 10% not 20% but 25%
now £2.50 minimum - 2 hours .
the council run this facility - so we pay in our rates - now more to pay just to visit a park - the council need to look carefully at their carparking policies

Hardwick country park is a gem. We moved from Norfolk a year ago and this park is our favourite place to visit. We usually visit twice a week. All the wildlife so close up is wonderful and really special. Following the family of swans this year has been an obsession. I agree with other reviews that dogs on leads should be enforced more. I am amazed that so much wildlife chooses to nest in a park where they are chased by dogs at times. I have only seen this happen late in the evening. Personally I think the parking charges are fine. The park needs to maintain itself somehow. It offers the kind of wildlife observation that you usually expect at an RSPB reserve which are considerably more expensive to visit than £2 per car. I feel very lucky to say this is my local park and most importantly my golden retriever loves it, she refuses to leave every time! Only down point, the disabled toilet is very outdated, small and difficult to use and needs replacing. A changing places toilet would be a welcome addition.

Enjoyable visit to the park itself. As we were in a party including a disabled person with a valid blue badge, it was sad to see they charge for disabled parking. A fellow disabled driver had fallen foul of this as it is a little confusing and they received a parking fine. This needs to be revised to make this park accessible to everyone, as it was a long way there and back to the parking meter if you were parked in the end like we were. Defeats the object really. It’s obviously a money maker as there were two parking attendants on duty.

In line with all Durham County Council car parks, we do not offer free / concession parking for blue badge holders.
Our car parking enforcement is undertaken on a regular basis in eth same way as car parks in our towns and city.

Had a long walk around here today ,lovely park and some nice varied walks on a crisp winters day,the weather was cold but sun was out and the place was fairly busy, nice pond and lakes even though some were frozen in parts but plenty of different birds to see.good paths here and a few dog walkers,a pleasant couple of hours here to get some fresh air with a family walk, will be back, the only downside its no free parking so £2 for 2 hours is expensive ,bank hols should be free or even a lot cheaper otherwise would have got 5 stars review

Is the center open today to buy food for the ducks?
Rédigé le 9 juillet 2020
From what I could see an hour ago driving through the carpark. The Place was busy with people and dogs etc. but the Cafe and Shop didn't look open from what I could see. Although, some people were eating on the picnic tables. Hope this helps

Hello can you cycle around the park as my wife and I have trouble walking any distance and use e bikes when we can. Thank you.
Rédigé le 11 janvier 2020
May I also suggest if youre looking for more off road cycling down an old railway track which is about 3 miles from Sedgefield along the A689 towards Hartlepool.
It is called Castle Eden Walkway which runs away on both sides of the road with a car park on each side of the road.
We have cycled along the path on road bikes as the surface is very good.
There is an excellent cafe called the Station House on the path towards Stockton (the path is well sign posted). The sausage rolls scones etc are all freshly made in the cafe and are delicious.

Hi
Is it possible to buy a plaque and put it in the remembrance garden? We notice several benches with plaques on and many trees with plaques beside them.
How can I arrange this and can you give me an idea of cost?
Kind regards
Adrian Dawson

Durham County Council will let you know , but when I wanted to do it when my husband died I was told how much , it was quite expensive and there was a waiting list you had to go on and it was replaced after so many years x

Do you still have to pay for parking even with a blue badge?
Rédigé le 9 juin 2019
My aunt who is 85 always parks at the rear of Hardwick Hall hotel and enjoys the walk around the park. If in any doubt look at Durham County Council website for further information

Dog is not allowed inside the cafe but you can buy something and eat outside with your dog. Many people do that.

hi is there an enclosed dog walk Judy
Rédigé le 1 janvier 2018
There are enclosed dog exercise areas where you are able to let the dogs off for a good run round. These are no too big but my dog loves running round the trees that are there.
