Beverly Hillside Suites B&B (Glovertown, Canada)

After a seven-day itinerary, arrived at B&B to find no one home. It was about 4 p.m., so no worries. Went away to pass the time, including supper. Telephoned and left messages with no reply. So, not wishing to backtrack with a risk of being in B&B limbo, we pushed on. Too bad. Looked like a nice place, but they need to get their act together.

C'est un excellent B&B

Ma femme et moi avons séjourné au Beverly Hillside Suites pour 7 jours . Il est situé dans un excellent quartier, près de l'autoroute principale. Le premier jour nous sommes allés dans le miel Moon suite et c'était très spacieuse avec un quatre publiés lit . jacuizzi. La salle de bains, douche; et une grande télévision ... puis nous sommes allés dans une autre chambre qui était très confortable et plus petites. L'hôtesse était sympathique et un excellent petit déjeuner tous les matins. C'était très bien situé pour accéder à tous les endroits différents que nous voulions visiter. Weant hâte d'y retourner l'année prochaine.

This was Newfoundland hospitality at its worst!

We had just spent two nights at Rocky Harbour in a real Nfdl hospitality and we arrived at 15:00 in Glovertown at the beverly hills B&B.Nobody at home so we waited a bit and than opened the front door and let ourselfs in. In the hall were two chairs were we sat down for another five minutes until I was fed up and phoned the number we had. A nice lady answered and told us to go to our room wich was to be found by going through the kitchen and to our right. The keys are in the door she said and added I'll see you tomorrow at breakfast. In our room we found a paper that we should fill out as to our needs for the breakfast the next day. Although the room was nice, it had no warmth to it and the whole house was an empty shell with no soul what so ever. My understanding of a B&B is that the owner has to live in the same house and should be there at all times to welcome his/her guests, help them find the regional things they should know about and above all talk about the best restaurants, bars etc. Not wanting to go back to Gander for a nice dinner, we ended up in what seemed the only joint where you could eat something with St-Johns prices for sub-standard meals. We were the first that (opening) day and the last!
Anyhow, the bed was not what it was supposed to be, at 22:00 a lot of people went upstairs with a lot of noise and the overall experience was far from good. Give me a functional room without all the blink-blink, a warm inviting house, a host that receives and helps us feel at home and I'll pay the 129 dollars with pleasure. I would think that when the hostess gets replaced by a housekeeper then the housekeeper should be available for the guests, even more so when we learned the next day that she is living just down the road!
I'm not going to touch the breakfast quality because we only wanted some yogourt, toast and (hopefully) home made jams. Well, the home made jams were replaced by square little restaurant packs that, once you had managed to remove the aluminum cover, gave us access to a dried-out substance that we could not even spread on the toast!

I gave this B&B two stars, one should have been better but the indication for one star was terrible and that would go a little too far. To sum it all up, if you have done 800kms and you feel you need a rest, by all means, go ahead and take it but don't expect anything special!

I must say I am dismayed and hurt that you felt you had such a terrible stay at our bed and breakfast. You are the very first dissatisfied customer we have had in the four years since we opened our bed and breakfast. As my wife explained to you in an recent email apology she had a kidney stone attack the day of your arrival and was stricken with the worst pain she ever felt in her life. So please forgive us for not being available to chat with you upon your arrival. There was an information package in your room listing the restaurants in our area. I am very sorry that you went to a restaurant in our area and once again had a terrible experience. We do indeed live in the bed and breakfast and the noise you experienced was our 22 year old daughter returning home from university and I guess bringing in her luggage she must have disturbed you at 10pm. Again, I most sincerely apologize. She is very respectful when we have guests and and when I told her she disturbed you she felt awful. As for your breakfast we offered a fresh fruit and yogurt parfait, bacon, eggs, hash browns, toast, juice and coffee or tea. We do offer store bought jam for sanitary reasons. We did put jam in little dishes on the table and we witnessed a guest licking their spoon and putting it back into the dish at that time we changed and decided to buy store bought jams that were just purchased in June 2012 for everyone's safety . Once again please accept our sincerest apologies and if you are ever in our area again please give us the opportunity to redeem ourselves.

Excellent Stay

The service received was excellent all around, from the booking to when we checked out. The room was spacious and suited our needs for our 1-night stay. The location was perfect since it was close to the highway exit and also close to town.

Michelle made our stay comfortable and the breakfast was delicious.

We would definitely stay there again if we were in the area.

Affordable luxury

I was very pleased with my 2-night stay at the Beverly Hillside Suites B&B. There was lots of room to stretch out and relax. The room was spacious and tastefully decorated with a very comfortable queen-sized bed, sitting area and desk. The spa-like shower had several different spray options and felt quite luxurious. Bath robes were supplied. There was also a bar-sized fridge in the room. Free wifi was available. Breakfast consisted of eggs, toast, hash browns, fruit and yogurt and it was included in the cost if the room

It is conveniently located just off of the Trans-Canada highway in Glovertown and is easily accessible from all local attractions. The house itself is quite large and generally quiet (although we could hear people walking around upstairs in the early evening). The owners and staff were friendly and made us feel at home in their home. I would highly recommend the Beverly Hillside Suites B&B when staying in the Glovertown or Terra Nova National Park area.
